With finals season rapidly approaching, everyone gets busy, stressed, and scrambled. It is crucial to remember to take care of your body and nourish yourself in the correct way with all the additional stress you will have in the next week.
I, for one, need to be in the right mindset to study, not too hungry or too full. Also, I will either be in the library or running around, ideally these food choices will be quick and keep me feeling my best! Here are some snack ideas that I will be using this finals season!
1. Eggs
I have always been taught how important breakfast is to get your body going in the morning. On days that will be nonstop studying and working, a high source of protein right in the morning will set my body on a great foundation to go all day strong.
2. Apples and nut butter
I absolutely love both of these foods and what is better than two things you love together? The nut butter is great protein and the apples provide healthy carbs and sugar. The best part about this snack is that it can stand alone or become part of a meal.
3. Greek yogurt
Again, the high protein count in Greek yogurt can be beneficial right in the morning or anytime throughout the day. Yogurt is an excellent option because it can be dressed up any way you would like. Granola, bananas, chia seeds, and berries are just a couple of options.
4. Nuts
Nuts are an awesome on-the-go option to pack for the library or eat on the way! All types are high in fat which will keep you fuller for longer amounts of time! I love cashews, almonds, and pistachios.
5. Protein bar
I recommend protein bars for active students or for more of a meal replacement, instead of just a snack. Protein bars sneak in tons of extra sugar and sodium that really make the calories add up. I also have noticed I do not feel nearly as satisfied. Brands I love for protein bars are Kind, RX, Larabar, and Kashi Go Lean.
6. Hummus
Hummus is another one of my go-tos for a quick snack. Enjoy with raw vegetables, pretzels, or throw on a tortilla for a quick wrap.
Incorporate any of your favorite snacks that are quick, filling, and easy for this stressful week! Remember to not overwork your body and truly listen to yourself. If you are hungry, EAT, your work will be more tiresome and less productive if you don’t take that quick break! Remember what that energy drink and four cups of coffee can do to your body. You are much better off getting energy from a food source! Best of luck to everyone this finals season! Get some sleep! You got this!
