Slow walkers are the worst. It never fails that there is a person taking a leisurely afternoon stroll while you are trying to get to your class. Slow walkers, why do you insist on doing this? Do you not have anywhere to be?
As a girl with long legs, I take big steps and walk at a faster pace than the average person. It is especially frustrating when I can’t pass someone walking very slowly on the sidewalk because they are taking up the entire sidewalk. If you feel the need to walk slowly or are not in a hurry to get somewhere, let the people that are walking with a purpose pass you. Don’t be a cotton headed ninny muggin and pretend you don’t hear me saying, “excuse me…”, just let me pass you.
Also, if you are texting, checking Instagram, or Snapchatting your boyfriend, do it off of the sidewalk. While driving, would you stop in the middle of the road to do something on your cell phone? Of course not. (Well some of you do, but it’s wrong.) It’s the same premise on the sidewalk. If you stop in the middle of the sidewalk, I will run into you.
If you are so busy socially that you need to check your social media pages on the steps or escalator, please stay as far to the right as possible. It is extremely frustrating when I’m running up the steps and you are just nonchalantly strolling in the middle of the steps where I can’t pass you. It’s great that your classes and life in general are going so well that you don’t have be running around campus, but make way for those of us that are less fortunate.
So slow walkers, do us all a favor and just walk at a normal human being pace.
