Six Things You Should Expect If a Writer Falls in Love With You
Koraima B. Gonzalez-Diaz

1. There will always be a part of her that will write about you, sometimes without even using words.

2. Your existence will be known even without her mentioning it directly, and stories will be scattered all over different places, carried by her words.

3. Your days and nights will no longer be spent staring at the ceiling because by then you'll have her beating heart, presented to you in journals or even on scratch paper, and sometimes it even comes with her own mouth.

4. You will learn how to look at things differently. If before birds didn't make sense to you, now they will. Because they will remind you of her wings: feathers of promises, and you will even want to fly and explore the sky with her.

5. There will be no forgetting: no days that'll go unnoticed or unremembered, because she will remember everything. And by "everything," it means every feeling and every move and every word. Don't believe me? Wait until she makes you read a poem she just wrote last night about the way you smiled at her three months ago.

6. You will never understand what she sees in you or why she loves you so much. But you will know yourself more and love yourself better without even realizing it. It's like you'll wake up one morning feeling more at home in your own skin and you will wonder how and why and when. And you will know; the way she writes about you helps.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
