Stage 1: The Realization Phase
As you procrastinate doing almost anything productive that you are supposed to, you start Facebook stalking [yourself] and saying to your friends "Oh my god, look at how skinny I used to be!" As you continue to look through old pictures of yourself and wonder how you ever had the will power to diet and to actually get yourself to the gym.
Stage 2: The Motivational Phase
This is when you start to think about how unhappy you are with how you look, and how happy you'd be with a six pack (of abs... I guess). After realizing you drank far too many beers and ate one too many slices of pizza last night, you brainstorm. Now you are super excited to start being a gym rat, but not until tomorrow when you are done recovering from last night.
Stage 3: The Planning Phase
You look online at all the "yummy" recipes you could potentially use to substitute your cheese fries and ice cream cones, tagging your friends in them saying "we definitely need to make these!"
Stage 4: The "Go Get 'Em" phase
This is when you actually use the gym membership you spend $20 a month on, maybe hit up a yoga class and grab some green juice after. You are feeling awesome about yourself and your new bod, even though it's only hour three of your new lifestyle.
Stage 5: The Happy Hour Phase
"We should do dinner and drinks tonight!" - The Group Chat. You had a great, healthy, fit morning and you were so ready to continue for the rest of the day, and maybe even in to tomorrow! But then, the group chat made a consensus and you just can't say no! The calorie adding, money stealing dinner with friends is about to happen, and there really isn't much you can do about it.
Stage 6: The Postponing Phase
"I'll just start tomorrow."
The quote heard around the world. We all know this feeling. You felt great, thought you were going to kill it with your diet, but quickly realize that you have zero self control and love your current lifestyle too much! Even Kim K. understands the struggle. Better luck next time, or maybe even next year.
