To The Sisters Who Leave

I know that outside of Greek life, people think that we “buy” our friends. They see us together and think that without our letters, we would never even associate with each other. But that’s so far from the truth. It’s true that we’re sisters because we just so happen to have fallen in love with the same organization. It’s true that we’re sisters by fate... but we’re friends by choice.

Maybe you graduated. Maybe you had to transfer. Maybe you had to drop. Whatever the reason, you had to leave.

I want you to know that, even if you aren’t physically here anymore, you’re still a sister to me. You were there for the highs and the lows, the good and the bad. You learned all the secrets that make our sorority unique. You memorized our creed, explored our history, and dedicated yourself to our philanthropy. You sat through chapter with me when it seemed like it would never end. You own our t-shirts, tote bags, hoodies, and whatever else a group of girls can personalize. Most importantly, you ran home to our sorority because you saw something special in our organization, because it felt like that is where you belonged. I hope that, even after you're gone, a part of you still feels that it's where you belong.

The time you spent in your sorority can never be erased. Bid Day, Big/Little Reveal, philanthropy events, socials, and mixers: these are memories we will have forever. Even the nights we sat around doing literally nothing were infinitely more special because you were there. It's crazy how quickly we became important to one another. You never think of Greek life as such a huge part of you until it's time to leave it behind.

I wish you didn’t have to leave, but sometimes life happens and people must leave things behind to move on to the future. Goodbyes are never easy, and saying goodbye to someone you share such a special bond with is practically impossible.

I hope that wherever life takes you, you still smile when you see our letters. I hope that you still think of our colors and our symbols as your own. I hope you carry our values with you, and it helps you to become the best version of yourself. I hope that you remember your time in your sorority with fondness, and most of all, I hope that you still consider the friends you made here to be your sisters for life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
