Valentine's Day is in the air and people are getting anxious. Everyone is looking for the perfect date, perfect plans, perfect outfits...because everything has to be absolutely perfect. One of the hardest struggles everyone faces on Valentine's Day is distracting themselves long enough to not send a hormone driven text to an unbelievably toxic ex-partner. So in hopes to avoid this shameful act of lust, here are just a few ideas you and your friends can engage in to still have an awesome February fourteenth.

Have a night out on the town

Go out and live it up while you still can. Enjoy a nice dinner with friends, hit up your favorite hang out spots, and don't forget to just keep having fun all night long.

Shoot your shot with the cute waiter you keep eyeing

With dinner comes the potential of having a pleasing to look at the waiter who may or may not be single. But you'll never know if you don't go ahead and put your best foot forward.

Make fun of cheesy romantic comedies while also secretly love them

If you're the type that would much rather have a night in than going out, by all means, indulge! Pick out your best PJs, find those early 2000's romantic comedies, and invite the girls over.

Try out the cute Valentine’s Day dessert recipes from Pinterest

Hey, if everyone else gets to eat chocolate and drink champagne, you can try out that triple chocolate layer cake. It's only fair.

Wait patiently for all the discounted candy on the 15th

It's like a second Christmas that you get to pay 75% off for.

Pick up extra hours at work for a pleasing paycheck

With the extra time to spare, why not add some extra hours to that incoming paycheck? You can even treat yourself later as a reward.

Spa night with all your favorite people and food

Whether this means hitting up the closest spa or just a foot bath and face masks, make sure it is a night of relaxation for everyone.

Get swoll at the gym

Imagine how empty the gym will be, you have all the space you could ever ask for to go full beast mode.

Dance party!

Blast your favorite tunes as loud as they can go and live it up!

Spending the night cuddling your pet

A quiet night in cuddling your best friend is always a night of happiness.

Treat yourself to a cute new outfit

Feeling a little down during the holiday? That's okay, go ahead and treat yourself to that dress you've been eyeing or that new jacket.

Road trip with your best friends

A shopping day trip or even a quick weekend getaway is a great way to clear the mind and focus on the now rather than the past.

 Spend time with your family

Family time can sometimes be the best time. Who doesn't love home cooked meals and quality time with Mom?

Send a heartfelt message to a close friend or family member

When the urge is too strong and you want to send that risky text, text a best friend or family member all the reasons you love them instead. They will always be your support team, so why not tell them how you feel and actually get genuine love back in return

Remember first and foremost, putting yourself first does not make you selfish or weak. It means you will remember to love yourself in the hardest times of your life. And a partner that understands that will be worth your time in the near future. But for now, rid yourself of toxic behavior and embrace those that matter to you the most this Valentine's Day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
