As a student in middle school, high school, and college, class work can become quickly overwhelming. We've all experienced stress, loneliness, and uneasiness very often while attending school. Maybe it's because you have too many things going on at once, or maybe you feel out of place, or maybe even you just feel plain sad.
Despite having all of these emotions control your life, there are countless ways you can enforce positivity into your situation. Sometimes teenagers and adults just need to escape the real world for a while, so here are 10 simple tasks you can do to help make each day a little more up lifting.
1. Find Your Motivation
Sometimes my only motivation is coming home to eat dinner and watch Glee on Netflix. Whether it's seeing your mom at the end of the day, or cuddling with your pet after homework, find a little bit of motivation.
2. Let Music Change Your Mood
If nobody else can make you feel better, trust music. It's a powerful thing. Think of that one song that always brings you nostalgic memories of the good times. Even if it's the middle of July, jam to some Christmas tunes. Don't be afraid to sing out loud, or even dance!
3. Get In Contact With An Old Friend
Think of someone in your family or maybe an old close friend you used to be in contact with often. Then, shoot them a text or a call and talk to them for a little about your life. You'd be surprised at how quickly you'll start to feel better if you talk about your issues with someone you care about.
4. Watch A Classic Movie You Have Not Seen In A While
For me, Disney movies take me to another world where I feel relaxed. Find your favorite classic film and give it a go, or get some friends together and have a movie night.
5. Plan A Vacation You Want To Take Someday
Even if it is not in the near future, think about places you'd love to travel to at some point and what you would do there. Studies show it keeps the brain active and increases excitement for what is yet to come in this crazy adventure called life.
6. Take A Nap
In this case, you snooze, you most definitely do not lose. Most of the time if I go to sleep upset, I wake up a lot more clear-minded and refreshed.
7. Make A List Of Everything You Should Be Thankful For
Some people have it much worse than you, so never forget all you have accomplished and the people in your life who have supported you. Whether it be friends, family, or both.
8. Set Goals For Yourself
From finishing knitting your scarf or making it to chapter 6 in a book, to graduating high school and eventually finding love, you have a massive amount of time to meet your future goals.
9. Decorate
It sounds strange, but imagine if you added a little pizazz to your room. Maybe it's almost time for Halloween and you add some orange lights and cobwebs to be festive. Decorating is fun and it lightens up your mood.
10. Exercise
This will probably be everyone's least favorite one, but sometimes taking your stress or aggression out by being active really helps. Maybe you play football and being able to tackle releases your anger, or maybe you're in marching band and performing on the field lowers your stress levels and calms you down.
There you have it. I wish you all the best of luck to find your inner zen and reach your highest level of happiness!
