I wish I had time to apologize
for the mess I had made in aisle five
I was reaching for a glass of red jam
but instead I grabbed the purple to its side
and as I had tried to readjust myself
flashes of purple escaped my frantic hands.
The sound of glass met the ground creating a symphony
of chaotic sounds that echoed across the store.
There wasn't much time for me to register
the events of the purple jam and how it reached the floor,
but there was time for me to vanish
before I could be blamed for doing anything more.
Next time I go shopping I'll reach for purple rather than red
because I rather take a color of royalty than one that's reserved for the dead.
