My summer overall was both productive and unproductive. The best way I can put it is that I could probably have accomplished more of the things I wanted to do, but I never did them. You know what I'm talking about right?
You know...that long list you promise yourself you'll get done, like getting tan, getting that summer body, and living life to the fullest. And it's very possible that you did do all of those things, but it's also possible that there were several other things on the list that were replaced by Netflix and a comfy place to sit.
Of all of the crazy things and desires that I had for the summer, there was one thing that I didn't put on my "list," that I was more than glad to adopt later on.
That would be, going to the beach...at night. Now I know you're thinking that you will stop reading here right now because that's stupid or simple or you're disappointed it wasn't something a little more out there. But, don't rule this out.
There is something about going to the beach at night, that is just...different. I know I use this word a lot...but it's also just magical! It's calming. The waves, the moon, and the lack of a crowd allow time for thought.
I went with my one of my best friends, Christine. Let me tell you...The BEST place to meet! I loved it. We caught up, we vented, and then we had a funny encounter with others who had unfortunately lost an iPhone...but...besides that, it was one of my favorite summer moments.
I could have stayed like that on my cute little blanket and watched the moon and the waves all night. It was healing and somehow gave me a sense that everything will work out. All of my inner confusion was put to rest for a little while.
It's a great place to just clear your mind and try to reconnect with the world and yourself. There is no way to explain. The only way to feel this is to actually go and do it. So if you have the chance, just make it part of your list to go to the beach at night (and try to bring a lantern...and a sweater...I needed those).
