If you attend or have attended an art school, you probably have realized that there are some things that people who go to other schools just can't understand. You may see this as a blessing or dread being associated with the following concepts, but there is no doubt that art school students just experience some aspects of college differently.

1. Quidditch is a thing

If you thought this was only relevant in Harry Potter movies, you probably don't attend an art school. This is seen as a real sport and taken completely seriously. Let the games begin.

2. Tattoos are not rare...at all.

Let's face it...if you think you have a lot of tattoos, the kid next to you probably has more. Don't even bother explaining the meaning of yours because someone will definitely try to one up you.

3. Greek Life is or is almost nonexistent

"Are you actually in a sorority here? We have those?" If Greek life is a thing at the art school you attend, there's a good chance the majority of your school doesn't realize or disregards it completely.

4. Thrifting is the most popular form of shopping

"Are we going to Goodwill later?" Those trips to the mall you used to take with your friends will probably stay at home depending on the location of your school. Old is the new "new" and trendy...go for it. Get vintage or something.

5. Your classes have strange names

Sometimes these can be a bit cringe worthy. Your basic class about music will probably be changed to something along the lines of "Sound in a New Upcoming World Open to All Concepts." That basic science class everyone dreads could look something like "Plastic - The Cause of the End of the World" on your schedule.

6. Sports have little meaning to the school's general population

Sports??? If they do exist, there will be few people attending the games and athletes won't get much credit for their efforts. Unless, of course, it's Quidditch.

7. People question if your degree is real or will provide you with a job

You probably dread those family reunions and gatherings for this reason. Yes, I can find a job studying the science behind plastic thank you very much. Kidding.

8. Double majoring is a thing

Yes, indecisiveness is welcomed at art school! Why not have both?

9. Denim on denim is not considered a fashion no-no

If you don't mind, no one else will either. Denim on denim is perfectly normal and acceptable at art school. Nothing to see here...

10. Going to the President's House is Common

"Are you going to the President's House for that event tonight?" Yes, this is quite common.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
