Every group of friends has the one individual who holds the group together and makes sure all is running smoothly. These people are often referred to as the ‘mom’ of the group, and here are some of the ways you can be sure that the mom, is you.

1. You are always the most prepared

You carry around the biggest bag and make sure to have snacks, drinks, sunscreen, Band-Aids, and anything else your friends may need in case of an emergency or extreme snack craving.

2. It feels as if you run your own credit union

You are the first one to lend money to a friend in need, and will even spot them a meal or two just to be nice. You have so many on-going tabs, you wonder if this is what it feels like to be a bar tender on New Year’s Eve.

3. You’re in charge of all the planning

Whenever you all want to hang out, you are the one to make sure times and locations are determined and work around everyone’s working schedules.

4. You check to make sure everyone is alive and well

Whether your friend is feeling a little under the weather, or just being reckless, you are sure to make sure they are safe and not dying.

5. Somehow you are always found cleaning up someone’s mess

How many times have you cleaned up spilled drinks, dropped food, or trash while attending or hosting a party with friends? Probably more times then you care to admit.

6. You hand out germ-x like it’s your job

As part of you feeling as if you need to keep you whole squad healthy, you make sure to be fully supplied with Germ-X and help them ward off germs.

7. You end up getting stuck with everyone’s belongings

Since you always carry around a large bag with anything you could possibly ever need, you are often being handed wallets, phones, and keys during a group outing.

8. Being the designated driver is a regular occurrence

You care more about your friends’ safety than allowing them to drive drunk or take a sketchy cab or Uber home, and there’s always next time right?....

9. You warn your friends/roommates when their space is getting messy

Your friends have learned to clean up their room before you come over because they know that, like their mom, you are likely to ask when was the last time they cleaned this place?

10. You’re the first person your friends come to in a time of need

Whether your friends need advice, a mediator, or just someone to talk to, you are always there and they know that there is no one more reliable to count on than you.

Although you may feel as though you miss out on some of the fun, you are the glue that holds together your squad together, and everyone needs a friend to care about them as much as you do. After all, where would they be without you?

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
