8 Signs You're A Fifth-Year College Senior

It's a strange year where you have to be a college student and an adult, all at the same time.

Being a fifth-year may sound horrible, but at times, life happens. Everyone finishes out college at different times, and it's actually very normal. The ideal time to finish with your first undergraduate degree is in four years. Some are quicker than others, and some take much longer.

One can become a fifth-year senior in college for many different reasons. Whether it be a personal issue, change of major, finishing classes for a minor, finishing an internship requirement, or adding another degree and certificate into your mix (which I am doing and foolishly thought that my senioritis couldn't possibly get worse, the joke's on me). Either way, it is not odd to be a fifth-year senior, but living through this stage can have its little weird moments.

1. We're too old for this shit

You once could pull an all-nighter, go out with your friends, and go the extra mile in extracurriculars. Now all of that just seems to be too much of a hassle and you would rather just go home and bum out the rest of the day.

2. Your friends have graduated

Your friends leave you and you really don't feel like making new ones.

3. Getting asked why you're still here

We ask ourselves the same question, trust me. In the end, we just hope it's worth it.

4. You're not involved in much of anything at all

You realize you have gone above and beyond the past four years and have kept your schedule pretty busy. So now you just want to relax, get through your classes, and just get out.

5. You're adulting, but still a college student

There's this awkward stage where you're still in the college stomping grounds, but your time has passed for the drama, extracurriculars, internships, and overrated social events. You're working on you and your job performance.

6. Your friends who have graduated are adulting

Which means they are moving forward and making new memories without you. Yes, you are happy and proud of them, but you would also like to be making those new adult memories with them.

7. You can easily read the professor and his teaching style in the first few days of classes

After going to college classes for four years you've got the college life down pretty much. Which makes classes way more boring and dull. Just got to make the most of it and hope you got one more school year left.

8. You're over the fast food

Fast food is great and a quick grab when you are in a rush and don't have time to prep your meal, but after four years, you realize what fast food has really done to you. You realize you need to take care of your body more and strive to be that meal prepper that your body needs you to be.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
