Whenever I get sick, it's always something big. I never get sick by halves, I don't get regular colds. For some reasons, it's always serious when I don't feel well. If I genuinely don't feel well, my illness, whatever it may be, knocks me on my ass. This week was no exception to that general rule of my life.
Ever since I was a kid, I've always been the person who's gotten the serious illnesses. In middle school, I ended up with both MRSA and swine flu. Needless to say, I missed a lot of days of school at a time, and that's even before all of the days when I faked sick to get out of going to class.
On the plus side, however, is that it seems like I balance this out by not getting sick very frequently. I only get sick about once a school year, so I don't end up missing too much throughout. Last year, my only illness was a run-of-the-mill kind of thing that kept me out of classes for a couple of days but didn't require much more than drugstore medicine to take care of. This year is turning out to be less simple.
Not only did I wind up sick a lot sooner this year than last year, it seems to be more serious. I finally sucked it up and went to the doctor only to find out that I have bronchitis. They gave me an antibiotic, so I should be okay relatively soon, but what makes it worse is that I live with three other people who are likely going to wind up sick because of how contagious bronchitis is. Plus, I've gone to two different musicals while I've been sick, so who knows how many people have been infected by me. I feel terrible, but there isn't much that I can do about it now.
I don't know why I can't just get regular illnesses rather than serious ones, but I suppose it isn't the worst thing in the world. My immune system is apparently strong enough that it keeps me from getting stuck with basic colds and things like that, but I can tell you for sure that MRSA, swine flu, and bronchitis all suck.
