Watching shows and movies on Netflix is a great way to spend time with friends or family. However, finding something to watch can be time consuming. To make things a bit more convenient, I've made a list of five entertaining shows, five throwbacks, and five intriguing movies for every type of person in your life. Don't worry, I tried to avoid spoilers!

Sometimes sitting back and watching other people's problems is all you need to forget about yours.

1. "BoJack Horseman"

BoJack Horseman is a Netflix Original animated show about a talking horse living in Hollywood in a universe where humans and animals live side by side. He used to be in a very famous tv show back in the 90s and his life has gotten much more difficult since its cancellation. He has dealt with alcoholism, depression, and drug abuse among other things. You can laugh, cry, and strangely empathize with the talking horse and his friends for an entire 49 episodes (and even more in the making)! It may sound like a strange concept at first, but this turned out to be one of the best shows I've ever watched. It has the perfect blend of comedy, drama, art, and tragedy. This show is best watched with friends. Trust me, you'll want someone to talk about every episode with.

2. "The Good Place"

What really happens after you die? What might an afterworld be like? This show tackles these questions with comedy and even some unexpected dramatic twists every few episodes. This show can be watched with friends or family. You'll never know what's going to happen next! This show is actually available on both Netflix and Hulu!

3. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"

This is the show to watch if you're in the mood for something outrageous. It is a comedy through and through. Kimmy Schmidt was a so-called molewoman being held hostage in an underground cult with a few other girls since she was fifteen. She was rescued at age 29 oblivious to what has happened in the world over the past 14 years and traumatized by the events that took place back in the bunker. Episodes include regular flashbacks to Kimmy's life in the bunker and although she dealt with a lot of trauma, the show always puts it into a positive light. This show contains a lot of adult humor so I wouldn't recommend watching it with your younger siblings but anyone else is bound to enjoy its spontaneity. It's a Netflix Original series so you can only watch it here!

4. "Stranger Things"

If you haven't heard of Stranger Things, then maybe you've been trapped underground for the past 14 years like Kimmy Schmidt. For those of you who don't know much about it, it's a show that takes place in the 80s about the paranormal events that have been taking place in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. It focuses in on the lives of five young boys and their families. If you want to find out more, watch it yourself! I would hate to spoil any of it for you. Anyone who can handle scary movies, particularly those who are interested in sci-fi films as well, can handle this show. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat for sure!

5. "Big Mouth"

Big Mouth is weird, but it is weirdly intriguing. It is another Netflix Original animated show except this one can be a bit more explicit, even showing a bit of cartoon nudity at times. It takes the concept of puberty and makes it as weird as possible. It is essentially about a bunch of middle school students going through puberty but it's not that simple. This show is so inexplicably weird but you would have to watch it yourself to understand. Only a certain kind of person can enjoy this type of show and you won't really know if you're one of them until you try watching it. This show is NOT for kids. But if you're told you have a weird or immature sense of humor, give this show a shot. I've watched more episodes of it than I want to admit. Sometimes the most disturbing things can also be the most intriguing.

Everyone loves a little nostalgia! These shows and movies are best watched with someone who's also experienced them in their childhood. Alternatively, you could introduce a younger family member to them. Who knows, maybe they'll love them as much as you did!

1. "The Rugrats Movie"

If you didn't watch Rugrats growing up, you were really missing out. You can watch an uninterrupted 83 minutes of your favorite clan of babies going on adventures. Who would have thought that a bunch of babies trying to get rid of their friend's newborn baby brother could be so adorable?

2. "Pokémon"

Did anyone else wish that Pokemon were real when they were a kid? I remember when my brother and I could only watch the jigglypuff episode at one point because it was the only episode available for free with our cable plan. Of course, that was the episode with the annoying song in it. My poor parents had to listen to hours of my brother and I incessantly singing that song. I apologize in advance if that silly little song gets stuck in your head after watching that episode.

3. The Lilo and Stitch Movies

Although the original Lilo and Stitch movie is only occasionally available on Netflix, the sequels are almost always free and available to stream. It's really touching to witness how Stitch goes from being extremely hostile toward Lilo to eventually feeling like he is a part of her family.

4. "9"

This movie is a little creepy but I can still remember the first time I saw it in theaters when I was about 11 years old with two of my guy friends from school (or rather, my friend and his friend who he invited at the last minute but that's a story for another day). It is a dystopian masterpiece to say just a few words. It's definitely worth watching if you were one of the many kids who were too scared to see it when it first came out!

5. "The Magic School Bus"

It was always a treat when your teacher would let you watch an episode of this in elementary school! Now you can watch it in the comfort of your own home. Just don't watch the Netflix Original remake, nothing can beat the original!

One of the best ways to use Netflix is for movie nights. It would be a shame if I didn't include a few more movie titles on here.

1. "V is for Vendetta"

My girlfriend recently introduced me to this movie and it is incredibly complex. I refuse to reveal one thing about it, it's a much better experience when you go into it blindly.

2. "My Life as a Zucchini (Ma vie de Courgette)"

This is a French claymation movie about a young orphan boy who goes by the name Courgette (Zucchini). It's best to watch the original version with English subtitles. There is an English dubbed version but the movie isn't the same without the original voices. It's a silly, sometimes emotional story that's definitely worth watching. I've watched it twice already!

3. "Would You Rather"

This is a gory psychological horror movie about a fatal game of would you rather. If you want to know more, watch it yourself!

4. "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil"

What happens when a group of oblivious teens think that two men in the woods are trying to kill them but the two men think that the teens are trying to do the same? Bloody chaos, that's what.

5. "The Ridiculous 6"

There's a reason the word ridiculous is in the title of this strange comedy. Watch Adam Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Luke Wilson, Terry Crews, Rob Schneider, and Jorge Garcia star in this zany flick.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
