I always thought I needed a break.
A minute to take a breather and catch up, for I had done none of that in my last four years of high school. I thought I need it, time to lay around and do nothing.
But now, I have too much time. If I eat another mini bag Takis and drink another to-go cold brew, I'm gonna lose my ever-loving mind. Honestly and with all seriousness.
So, I've had to do something to pass the time.
My Netflix account is the most personal relationship I've had these past few weeks.
I have found some shows that have made me think, made me cry, made me laugh, and wonder if I need to invest in a tiger. While my choices might not line up with your likings, I hope you'll give these a try. A lot of them have been recommended to me and I'm just gonna pass these gems along.
I. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness
You've seen the memes, you've seen the TikToks. It is all about Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin. This quasi-documentary is one of the most interesting series I have ever witnessed. The story is taken from the crazy lives of people owning and attempting to protect exotic animals. Joe Exotic owns and runs the Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, living with wild tigers and lions while Carole Baskins owns and runs Big Cat Rescue, trying to end ownership of wild animals. After years of war over animal rights laws, it comes down to some serious issues in a turf war, the king, and vengeance of the tiger.
II. That 70's Show
Never have I laughed this hard. Laughed until my ribs hurt. Eric Foreman and the Foreman crew are the one way for me to always smile. Along with all of their funny friends. This group of misfits from the eastern Wisconsin area never fails to get into some sort of trouble. Whether it's with the police, the town, or Red Foreman, it is always trouble. But, it's a great laugh to have and a nice show to enjoy with friends.
III. Gilmore Girls
This makes me want to have a hundred sisters. Lorelai and Rory are the epitome of what it means to have a strong mother-daughter relationship. Living a life of solace and happiness in Stars Hollow with their true friends, even though their real-life lives just down the highway. Once Rory gets accepted to a prestigious private school, Lorelai must rely on her wealthy past to give Rory the future she deserves and all of the mess that comes along with it.
IV. You
I love a good murder mystery. In this case, a sociopath mystery. The story of Joe Goldberg is a wild ride for sure. After years of time being abused and left alone, Joe turns life into his own fantasy. He uses the people around him to play out his own twisted way, and that includes Beck, the woman he wants and desires to be someone she is not. He manages her life without her knowing, eliminating problems until they are unfixable. How will it all turn around? When will it change?
