Shouldn't Every Life Matter?

I think so.

I'm tired of hearing "Black Lives Matter" and "LGBT lives matter" and "Indian Lives Matter". Why can we not come to the agreement that all lives matter?

I seem to be a minority in this, but I'll explain why.

When I was younger I was obsessed with the movie, Bring It On: All Or Nothing. In the end, Rihanna was judging who won a cheerleading competition. A girl claimed that the team who won was "ghetto". Rihanna responded back by saying, "I don't judge people by where they come from, I judge them by what they bring to the table."

So why can't we have the reactions? Just because someone is black doesn't mean they are a thug.

Just because someone is Muslim doesn't mean they are a terrorist.

Just because someone is part of the LGBT community doesn't mean God hates them.

I live in a neighborhood that is very multicultural. There is a mixture of Chinese families, American families, Indian families and much more. Some of these families who come from different countries Americanize themselves. Others do not. This means that sometimes I drive down the street and see an Indian woman in their dupatta (veil). So am I supposed to immediately think she is going to bomb me?

No. But most people would react in a way that would imply otherwise.

I blame that on lack of education. I also blame that on the publicity the news gives people of other races, religions, beliefs. I mean, claps for people that still watch the news considering there is a new act of hatred killing multiple people every other day.

I learned in a PR class that the news outlets tend to talk about the bad more than they talk about the good. Not often are there more "feel good" stories, than stories of racism and hate.

Think about it, do you often see an all-women cast talking about issues about women. Or do you see a panel of all-black men talking about "Black Lives Matter"? Rarely. So this is how the picture gets painted into letting people think that Muslims are terrorists and black guys have guns and are probably thugs.

No matter the circumstance, innocent people should not be getting killed because of their race. So yes black lives matter, Indian lives matter, white lives matter. To be quite honest, I think my dog's life matters. I don't understand why lives have to be separated into race. We live in America. We all have the same body anatomy, we all have parents, we all love someone and someone loves us right back. So how about we start acting that way and become one. If we respect each other race, religion and everything in between, we wouldn't be having all this heartache.

These are just my thoughts - sorry if I offended anyone.

Peace and Blessings

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
