Why You Should #TreatYourself

It doesn't hurt to treat yourself every now and again. You deserve it.

Why You Should #TreatYourself

We all go through things in our lives, both high and low. We focus so much of our energy on others, that we often forget about ourselves or we feel selfish when we do something for ourselves. I'm here to tell you that it's okay to be selfish every now and again. It's okay to treat yourself to something nice.

Treating yourself doesn't have to mean doing something big. It can be ordering takeout for dinner instead of cooking, having a drink with dinner, watching your favorite show, etc. Although, it can be something bigger. Maybe you purchase something you've been debating on for a while that you weren't sure you wanted to spend the money on.

My sister's birthday just passed and as a gift I took her out for the day to do some shopping and get lunch. Not only did I get her a bunch of stuff she wanted, but I also got some for myself as well. I bought myself some small things; a new key chain, an air freshener for my car, GPS holder. Though I also did some bigger shopping. I took her to Build-A-Bear. A place where you pick a stuffed animal, get to stuff it and put a heart in it, as well as a scent of sound if you wish, then you can dress it and get accessories if you want, before finally naming it and getting a birth certificate. Now, I didn't have to make on. I could've saved myself the 30 plus dollars, but I chose to make one as well. I found a cute little bear and even dressed him.

I spent almost all of my spending money that day. I'm not just talking about a month's spending money either. I mean I pulled out money from my savings and I currently am not planning on spending money unless I have to to build my account back up. However, I feel really good. I got a lot of neat stuff, a new stuffed animal that I love, and I had a great day out with my sister.

There have been a few purchases here and there that later on I think back and wonder if I really needed to spend the money on it, but then I remember that it's okay. It's done and over with now anyways, and it's something that made me happy. I bought some new movies, got a new CD, etc.. Stuff I didn't need, but I wanted and I got it. Even picking up dinner on the way home when I could've easily found something at home. Did I need to spend the money? No. But I did, and I'm okay with it.

Life is tough, we all know that. However, you only have one life to live so you have to make the most of it. It doesn't hurt to treat yourself every now and again. You deserve it.

As I get a bit older and enter more of adulthood I'm learning about all these new responsibilities and learning that I can't just be a care free kid anymore. I have a car payment, insurance, rent, gas, etc. I really have little to money to myself after everything so I don't really get to do to much. So being stuck at home, just going to and from work, sucks sometimes. So when I'm at the store or a friend is in town, I'm going to treat myself. I'll get something I like, go see a movie, maybe even take a drive for the day.

Take care of yourself. You don't always need a reason to be a little selfish. It's okay to #TreatYourself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
