"How's the weather down there?"
If you're going to make fun of my height, at least be more creative than that. Honestly, the weather is the same all the way down here. It's just less windy. Growing up, I never really grew up, and everyone just loves pointing that out to me. While being short does have its perks, it leads to universal problems that every short girl can relate to.
1. Something's on the top shelf? You're definitely not reaching that.
My roommate actually bought me a step stool so I can reach the storage above my closet. Joke's on her because I still can't reach it.
2. Adding an extra inch to your height when someone asks you how tall you are and saying "on a good day" after it.
I'm 5'3" on a good day and that's none of your business.
3. Cuffing your jeans is not a fashion choice.
Yes, it looks cute, but I only do it because my jeans are 4 inches too long otherwise.
4. Being used as an armrest
I know I am the perfect armrest height. That doesn't mean I want to be used as one.
5. Being laughed at when you're angry
Apparently being short and angry makes you adorable, so it's very hard to be taken seriously.
6. Being given kids' menus at restaurants
I stopped eating off the kids' menu when I was eight. I'm eighteen now. Please can I have a real menu?
7. People just love to hold things above your head and make you jump for them.
Can I please just have my phone/textbook/binder/snack back? This is unnecessary and if this is your best source of entertainment, you need to find a hobby.
8. People will literally just run into you sometimes
You couldn't see me all the way down here? Interesting.
9. Having to speed walk to keep up with your friends
My little legs just can't keep up.
10. Feeling like you're drowning
Deep end of the pool? Nope. That weird drop off in the ocean? That's a no-go.
11. Not being able to see over whoever is sitting in front of you
Movies, concerts, plays, classes, sporting events... Good luck seeing anything.
. . . . . .
But hey, at least we never have to duck and don't have to worry about dating someone taller than us (not that that matters, of course).
