'Free & For Sale' Pages Are The Dest Places To Shop Universally At Your University

If you’ve been reading any of my past articles, or if you personally know me, you’ve probably gathered that I live in Washington and attend Washington State University. However, I’m not originally from here.

I grew up in sunny Arizona and decided to come here for school. My main reasoning was because of WSU’s AMDT (Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Textiles) program. This program offers a design side as well as a merchandising side which deals with the buying, pricing, and business aspects of the fashion industry.

I decided to focus on the merchandising side and am loving it! WSU’s fashion design program is ranked number 38 of the top 50 schools in the US, and as number 8 in the top 10 schools on the west coast. Considering being a public university, I’d say those rankings are pretty high!

Anyway, being a fashion major has always got me looking at trends, fashion websites/magazines, and unfortunately for my wallet, online shopping. Being so, I’m continuously trying to “ball on a budget” to save my wallet some grief, as well as show off some cheap finds to my friends.

So how does WSU and my uncontrollable addiction to shopping coincide? 6 words:

WSU’s Free and For Sale Page.

This page exists on Facebook, and although I don’t know how long it has been around, I just know that I have gotten some really good use out of it since attending school here. This page has everything: furniture, clothing, cars, and plants and more.

Looking for someone to take up your lease for the summer? You can post that on here. Looking to get eyelash extensions for a great price not too far from you? Yupp, that’s on here too. Basically, anything you need shopping-wise, you can find on here. To join the group, you just have to be a Wazzu student, which is verified by the administrative owners of the page once you ask to join. Once you’re approved, you’re free to buy and sell (mostly) whatever you’d like.

I’ve recently signed a lease for a house for next year, and I go to this page every day to find cheap furniture finds, along with some cute decorations. I’ve also sold some items on here too, and they usually get claimed within a few days, because like me, people are always shopping and looking for a cute, cheap find.

What’s really cool too is that there is probably a page for your school too! I’ve found “Free and For Sale” or “Buying” pages for Arizona State University, University of Washington, Central Michigan University, Brown University, and the list goes on and on.

So if you’re a broke college student with no car or care to leave campus, check out your local/university free and for sale page – it won’t disappoint.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
