She's Not Your Best Friend Unless...

You are the only person I know who is as weird as me.

She's Not Your Best Friend Unless...

1. She gives you the best advice on any subject.

Whether it is about, family, school, a significant other, or anything else you could possibly imagine, she is always there, ready to channel her inner Aristotle.

2. You still laugh about all the stupid little memories you have.

Someone just has to say one word that reminds the both of you of something funny before you are on the floor in tears.

3. You have already talked about the chaos the two of you would cause in the nursing home.

Those nurses ain't ready for us.

4. You are totally jealous of something about them and vice versa.

Like can I just be you?!

5. Spontaneous dance parties are the best parties.

You could just be studying, but then once your song comes on, all bets are off.

6. Your phone is constantly being blown up by funny things the two of you find on the internet.

Thank you, social media.

7. She has the best sense of humor and always knows how to make you laugh.

Probably because it's the same as yours.

8. She's always ready to kill if someone hurts you.

Fuckboys, beware.

9. Her parents are your parents too.

Except they usually don't yell at you.

10. You can sit in silence with each other on your phones or doing your own thing, and it's not weird.

Sometimes all you need is the other person's presence.

11. Random adventures are a daily occurrence.

But most of the random adventures are just going to McDonald's at 2 a.m.

12. She's always honest with you.

She'll tell you to grow up and stop texting that loser and to move on and also that your boots look like sh*t with those pants.

13. She makes you want to be a better person.

She always inspires you to work harder everyday.

14. You have your own language and nicknames.

Every single person in your lives has a code name, and when you talk to each other, no one else has any idea what the hell you are talking about.

15. You invite yourself places or show up without asking.

Actually, if you do ask at all, you just made it weird.

16. There are no secrets.

You know every detail of their personal life and bodily functions. Oh, you want to come over at 7:30? But don't you usually pee around that time?

17. You have the same enemies.

Chances are, this is how you became friends in the first place.

18. By the way you talk to each other, sometimes people would think you two hate each other.

I only insult you because I love you.

19. She could compile a collage of all the ugly selfies she has of you.

Now she has the perfect leverage for blackmail.

20. There are at least 10 things in your closet that belong to them.

No, you are never getting those jeans back. They make my butt look like a 10.

21. You already know they are going to be your maid of honor.

Because there's no one else in the world who could make me cry, laugh, and make me feel super uncomfortable all in one speech.

22. You have more inside jokes than you can count.

Nothing says friendship like bursting into laughter over a random phrase that has zero significance to anyone else.

23. Their name in your phone isn't actually their name.

Either that or is has more emojis than letters.

24. When you guys reunite after a long time apart it is a huge event.

The excitement is almost too much to handle and you look forward to it the second the plans are made.

25. You know that no matter how far apart you may live or where life takes you, they will always be there.

Thanks for being my best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
