1. The weather

Living in New Jersey, you get to experience all four seasons. Summer is always beach season, and there is most likely going to be a winter snowfall... and fall and spring are the perfect in-between!! Great for everyone, right?

2. The beaches

There are miles and miles of beaches from Sandy Hook on. Summers are the best when everyone gathers together at the beach with chairs, drinks and food. There is nothing like dinner on a Jersey Shore beach or hanging at a beach bar with family and friends!

3. The bars

Parker House, Bar A, Osprey, Donovan's? All of these popular bars are right at your fingertips when you live on "the shore" (we actual shore locals hate when people call it that). It's either a quick uber drive or even a short walk to your favorite bars.

4. The commute

Hop on the ferry, or the train, and you're in NYC in no time. You can go from lounging on the beach to clubbing in the city in just a couple of hours... The best of both worlds? I would say so.

5. The food

Pizza, bagels? New Jersey has the best of it. There's nothing better than grabbing a quick PEC (pork roll, egg, and cheese, and yes, it is pork roll, NOT Taylor ham) after a long night out or before the beach day ahead of you!

6. The music

Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Charlie Puth? All of these artists, new and old, are from the Jersey Shore. Seeing these stars on the street is nothing new, and it's most likely that they went to grammar school with your neighbor. Seeing them on the beach or at the gym has become a regular thing.

7. The people

At the Jersey Shore, everyone knows everyone. When you go out, it's basically a high school reunion. The meaning of "home friends" is something completely different for kids who grew up in the small towns and boroughs of the area. You can always find a friendly face wherever you are.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
