7. Jacob Schroeder
Teaches: Chemistry
Why: Everyone dreads organic. This man makes it bearable and passable. With his twice a week take home quizzes, he's managed to keep his students up to date on the material while giving them the opportunity to make a decent grade in the class. He has a distinct way of teaching and is available for help outside of the classroom. Like most great professors, he realizes his class is not the only one we are taking and understands the stresses and struggles of a college student and doesn't make his course overwhelming. Yes, still hard, but not overwhelming.
6. Hope Parnell
Teaches: Management
Why: A professor who really gets to know her students and takes the time to help them succeed, no one has a bad word to say about Dr. Parnell. She offers extra credit which is always a draw to students and also makes you want to come to class. Weird right? She's engaging, entertaining, and genuinely just a nice person over all. She's a brilliant woman who understands how to educate and mentor.
5. Allen Swords
Teaches: English
Why: I say he teaches English, but according to most of his students, this professor is a profound man who teaches life. His class has projects and is mainly discussion based, but you will learn more about yourself and life through this discussion and the novels he chooses than any other professor. His ability to make the class applicable to every major student is a skill and something every student wants. Keeping the class engaged and educating at the same time is one of the keys to being a top professor.
4. Joseph Mai
Teaches: French
Why: Can you say GROUP WORK? He's the professor that allows you submit a paper a few times after he corrects the grammar and helps you along. He teaches and corrects with constructive criticism rather than marking something wrong and telling his students to figure it out. Plus he lived in France for 3 years and speaks French as it should be spoken, beautifully.
3. Jeffrey Edwards
Teaches: Sociology
Why: Edwards is one of the younger professors in this department. His classes are educational and fun. He incorporates group activity in order to keep the class engaged.
2. Robert Kosinski
Teaches: Biology
Why: Kosinski is the bomb. He's clear in his teachings and available outside of class. He makes learning this not so facinating subject fun. I once got a snapchat of him pretending to be a plant and growing while standing on a desk in lecture. It's hard to keep the students engaged but he does a pretty great job overall. And although it may be a tough subject, a majority of students come out with a decent grade.
1. Eddie Smith
Teaches: Communication
Why: We all know and love Eddie and it's no secret Eddie loves his students. Eddie is down to earth and still thinks he's a 21 year old boy living the college dream. His class is fun and entertaining and unlike a lot of professors, he seems to really understand the stress and hardships of college life. He's a good teacher and someone you wouldn't mind grabbing lunch with after class.
