Set Intention In Your Season

Make the most of the holidays this season

Halloween is right around the corner, which means we can practically smell the pumpkin spice in the air. People are hanging up last minute decorations, carving pumpkins, stocking up on candy, and getting together their Halloween costume for the big day.

We are at the start of the holiday season and that means there is a lot to be excited about. However, many individuals choose to not participate in the holidays at all - in fact, they even dread it. Like most things in life, it is important to remember that the holidays are what you make them. It is important to remember the core focus around each holiday and to embrace them the best you can. This is the perfect time to create new traditions and even tap into the old ones.

The holiday season does not mean that you have to drink away your loneliness and wait for the time to pass. It is all about getting in touch with your inner child and feeling blessed and excited about the little things in life. This does not mean to take the holidays so seriously - even if they do not correspond with your beliefs, it is easy to find fun activities to do that you cannot any other time of year.

Free Activities

The holidays are filled with free activities that are perfect for getting into the holiday spirit. For instance, fall festivals - these occur at the peak of the leaves changing. They usually offer hayrides, pumpkin patches, warm apple ciders, delicious treats and more. It is a great way to bond with friends and family without having to drop a tremendous amount of money.

Who doesn't like to get creative and carve pumpkins? This is a great activity to get outside and enjoy the crisp air. Plus, you can make pumpkin seeds with the insides!

Spontaneous Trips

The seasons are changing faster in some places than others. A great way to get into the holiday spirit is by taking a trip somewhere to see some amazing views. For example, October in Vermont offers a beautiful rainbow forest and crisp air. Since there is no snow yet, the ski lifts still offer mountain biking and a trip on the gondola to the top for guests to see the beautiful colors from up above.

Once the flurries start to fall, Killington, Vermont is also a great spot to go snowboarding, skiing, and snow tubing. In addition to Vermont, some other great resorts for more snow fun are Snowshoe Virginia; Massanutten, West Virginia; Denver/ Aspen Colorado, and more. Even if you have never been before, it is always a fun family affair to try something new.

Theme Parks

What is a better way to get in the holiday spirit than to go to a theme park? During the fall-winter, most theme parks completely re-decorate in honor of the season. For example, in North Carolina in October, Carowinds turns into "Scarowinds" to get into the spooky season and changes into a Holiday wonderland for the winter.

In addition to this, Uptown Charlotte Speedway turns into a holiday racetrack where you can actually drive your car on the track and drive through and see the decorations. Right outside of it is a manmade snow rink that is available for all ages.

Another fun destination that will be available this winter is The White Water Center. It will be creating a giant snow rink with a brewery that you are available to ride up to.

Holiday Drinks

Like every season, there is a signature drink that goes with the holiday spirit. One sip and you're feeling a sensation from head to toe. Some of my favorite during the fall is to try different style pumpkin beers, Oktoberfest, and apple cider mimosas.

As it begins to get more chilly, there are multiple styles of Christmas Lagers that are present alone. In addition to this are warm spiced hot chocolates, egg nog, grinch punch, mulled wine, and more!

Put on the chef hat and get to the kitchen! Let yourself have fun and get a little silly with family and friends. Making holiday cookies is one of my favorites all season long. Besides, it is always fun to try new homemade sweets to make for Thanksgiving such as pumpkin pie, apple pie, pumpkin bread, or a yummy cake.

During the winter, making gingerbread will leave your house smelling amazing. Even better, making a gingerbread house is a fun (and tasty!) activity as well. Some other creative snacks are chocolate bark, homemade peppermint patties, reindeer treats, puppy chowder, and more.

The holiday season is supposed to be fun. I think that people get so wrapped up in the idea that they are supposed to be perfect that they lose sight of the most important thing - love; allowing yourself to give and feel love and show appreciation for others and your world around you. So, no matter what your beliefs are - challenge yourself this holiday season to try something new to step outside of your comfort zone. Don't let yourself sit with regret for another whole year wishing you took the time that you had now. Appreciate the small moments you have with loved ones as you all gather together during this time.

Happy Holidays!

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

11 Signs You Grew Up In Hauppauge, NY

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

1. It's easy to be fooled by shiny things.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
