After stepping into my first restaurant job I've realized how the stress of lunch/dinner rush can easily change everyone's attitude. I don't believe it's always a true statement to their character, it just means they handle stress in the worst way. The people who seemed to be the nicest souls suddenly become harsh and aggressive. It's understandable why the mood changes under these circumstances. It's overwhelming when there are four parties and multiple groups of people flooding through the restaurant doors all at the same time. Any job brings mass amount of stress at some point, but that's what you applied for so make the best of it.
Unfortunately, time has no part of improving someone's mood. I thought after being at the same job for a while everyone would be used to the hard times and busy hours of the day, but I was wrong. Workers who have been through numerous lunch/dinner rushes for years, still let the anger overcome them and they struggle to keep that genuine smile on their face. Luckily there are a few workers who can stay laughing and happy during the busiest, and most irritating of times. For this I say thank you. As a new employee it's difficult to deal with the range of emotions displayed throughout the day, but for those of you who keep up their kind spirit, you make the day so much better.
Being around coworkers who help without hesitation, smile constantly and work hard make it worth it to go to work.
I consider those who can keep their composure and kindness during hard times at work the best workers out there. Not only do these little sunshine employees keep the work day enjoyable, they handle the grumpy attitudes thrown their way with patience and understanding. Although these lovely workers rarely get credit, just know someone always notices. You are a diamond in the rough and once again thank you for your truly happy spirit.
