One of the best things about break is that the amount of work you have to do decreases enough to allow you to catch up on all of the media you missed during the semester. Given the whole net neutrality situation, it's probably best to get on it before its too late.
1. "Mad Men"
This is honestly probably my favorite show as of late. If you're the type of person that lives for high intensity, extremely stimulating shows, this is not the show for you. If you like themes, clever dialogue, and all that good stuff, you should probably stop reading the list now and start watching. You're welcome.
2. "Dark"
I honestly don't know what this show is about, but my professor mentioned it to the class and said a paragraph's worth of cool-sounding things that I can't remember anymore. But he seemed to know what he was talking about. Watch it.
3. "Stranger Things"
"Stranger Things" is honestly a little slow sometimes for me, but when all else fails, it's worth sticking to it to be able to understand the memes.
4. "The Office"
It's a classic. I haven't ever met a person that has seen "The Office" that didn't like it.
5. "Grey's Anatomy"
Only do this if you're dedicated. This show is the only reason I survived my senior year and is nearly 15 seasons long. If you can look past the all of the drama, you'll find that each episode has a theme and is extremely applicable to everyday life. It will feel real sometimes. You will need tissues eventually.
6. "Westworld"
I started watching this and it got to be overwhelming. But I imagine given enough time, it could end up being a favorite. The topic is interesting, production is done well, and it keeps you on your toes.
7. "Game of Thrones"
I'm sure if you haven't started watching yet, at least 10 people have told you to start. If you have, I'm sure 10 people have told you to finish. Just do it.
8. "Comet" (2012)
I don't usually like romance movies, but this one is amazing. It's written and directed by Sam Esmail, who is better known for the show "Mr. Robot". 10/10 would recommend. (It's even better if you don't look it up before watching).
9. "The Shape of Water"
This movie just came out and it's amazing. I don't know much about Guillermo Del Toro, but I definitely now know that he makes a kickass movie. It is dark yet beautiful, subtle yet overwhelming, simple yet inspiring. Watch it.
10. "Narcos"
This is probably one of the most underrated shows on Netflix. Beautifully written and executed, it even has the power of true events behind it. I know that not everyone can get down with the 'reading the show' thing, but the use of Spanish language and subtitles enriches the show. It's at least worth watching an episode or two.
So when you find yourself sitting around doing nothing, remember this list. You're welcome.
