For sororities across the country, the start of school signals the start of recruitment. This whole process is intimidating to most, especially those who have never recruited before. As much as we all love recruitment, we all know it can get exhausting at times. But take it from me, when you get to your senior year, you'll relish those times spent with your sisters in what you know will be your last formal recruitment.
Here's my advice to first-time recruiters, as a senior.
First and foremost, take care of yourself. The days are long as is, and without enough sleep, water, and food, you'll be miserable. Plus, you'll want to be in a good mood while you talk to potential new members, and it will be a lot easier to be your true self when your basic needs are met.
As crazy as recruitment can be, don't let yourself get overwhelmed. The stress of recruitment is not worth losing your temper and yelling at your sisters, or being so worried that you'll mess up the bump rotation to enjoy your conversations. Trust me.
Lastly, don't wish recruitment away. It's so easy to go day by day, waiting for the round to end so you can go home. During these times, eating and sleeping are very tempting. As much as you want to just "make it to the end of the day" or make it to bid day, by the end of it, you'll look back and miss all of the hours you spent with your sisters.
You may not believe me now, but when your senior year comes, you will feel the same way. There's a moment where it just hits you thatthis is it. So through the times when you think you're too tired to move and too emotionally exhausted to have another conversation, push through it. Because when it's all said and done, you'll realize that you were making memories the entire time.
