Senior year
A square walk of
Old wooden doors
That opened
And closed
Opinions and
Minds.
A lunchroom
With a round table of
Friends packed full of
Gossip and laughs.
Passed around
Talk of what we all
Would expect
When we made it
Through college
And life
But private thoughts
Of time passing
Of losing time
Disconnection of the
Moments spent together.
Senior year
Of college
A square block
Of dorms and classrooms
Long stairs and glazed stares
Lunches alone
With strange voices
Gossiping and
Consuming
The presence of
One another
College parties and people
Putting themselves out
Into the world in order
To find new connections
New classes, new people
Group meetings and
Facebook friends.
Adding in,
Scheduling around
Lost and found
Missed calls and texts
Never seem enough
To the old ones
We miss the most
Strong wishes
Of a closer reunion
Of old and new
Stronger feelings
Of hope
To not having to
Start over
again.
