High school is one of the hardest times during any young adult’s life. Most people dread it and understand when high schoolers say they “hate high school”. Yeah, there are some awesome times, but there’s also a lot of times in high school that aren’t so awesome.

Well, I’m here to tell you that if you’re that high school student- it gets so much better. Not to be that annoying older person that’s like “College is SO awesome, I hated high school!”. But college really is bounds better than high school.

High school is so hard these days with social media. Everyone is telling you who you need to be when you don’t even know who you want to be in the first place. Throw in 6 hours of homework a night, and extracurriculars, and trying to fit in with people- it can feel like you’re drowning.

Not to sound corny, but college really is where you’ll find your people. Nobody cares what you do, and nobody is as judgemental as they were in high school. Not to say that there are no judgemental people in college, but you are totally free to be yourself. Say bye to the people you don’t like, because you won’t have to be around them once you’re at college.

The first few weeks of college are hard when everyone is trying to find their spot and their friend group, but once you settle in and find where you belong, you’ll feel like everything's falling into place. You’ll make some of your lifelong friends in college.

When you come to the hard times in college, just remember what made you go there in the first place. Remind yourself of those times in high school that you wanted nothing more than to get out. You’ll be so thankful for where you’re at now if you can remember where you came from.

I think the main reason that college is so much different is that everyone genuinely wants to be there. You might not always like everyone that you’re surrounded by, but everyone knows why they’re there- to get a degree. People don’t have time to focus on the petty things that they did in high school.

I’ll always be thankful for everything that I went through in high school, as weird as that sounds. Events that you go through during that time of your life are what shapes you and molds you into the person you are for college.

Plus, in college you don’t have to sit in a desk for 8 hours a day everyday! It’s so great to have this newfound freedom in college that you didn’t have in high school.

I genuinely hope that any high school students who are having a really hard time with where they’re at right now, are able to find peace in the fact that it will all be over soon. Don’t rush high school- enjoy it while it lasts, but don’t dwell on how horrible it is for too long.

If you’re that senior that hates where they’re at right now- pick your head up, because it’s about to get so much better.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
