A Thank You To Last Semester, Fall 2017
Katelyn Milligan

I could thank my new friends from PSUB's Entertainment committee a million times or my old high school pals who can joke around like nothing has changed. I could thank my new roomie who has become a close friend or my major BFF who is in a class with me each semester.

As always, I could thank my parents for their support and open ears and proud wishes. Or my sister for her funny comments and sporadic trips to visit. I am grateful for all of those people, but instead, I want to thank the semester as a whole for giving me yet more amazing and rewarding opportunities which make my college experience great.

With a natural tendency of loving to learn, I truly enjoy Purdue and the opportunities presented here. I am not relieved the semester is over because I will miss my classes, but I am grateful for the knowledge I have learned and proud of my academic accomplishments such as receiving all As and a 4.0 GPA for the third semester in a row.

Most importantly, the outstanding professors were the key element in making a lasting impression in the course they each taught. I was able to take a diverse range of classes which were all interesting, and I honestly loved going to each one.

Thank you to my favorite COM 204, Critical Perspectives On Communication

With a difficult reputation, this course became my favorite from day one. As a communication major, every single lesson was both interesting, challenging, and useful. I learned so much and felt very accomplished with my final grade. It is a powerful course which made me fall in love with my major even more.

Thank you to SOC 310, Racial And Ethnic Diversity

This course was so insightful, and I have a new understanding and view of the world because of it. This class probably changed me in a positive way the most. Plus, it introduced me to the field of sociology which has become of future interest for me.

Thank you to ANTH 205, Human Cultural Diversity

Learning about cultures, diversity, and more, this course was a good introduction to the world of anthropology. I have a new appreciation for anthropological study and work.

Thank you to STAT 113, Statistics And Society

This course gave me the real-world knowledge and now I am better able to question or understand statistics in daily life.

Thank you to NUTR 303, Essentials of Nutrition

I learned and better understand nutrition which is important for building healthy habits for the rest of my life.

Thank you to Purdue University for providing me the opportunity to have had a semester like this.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
