Dear Mr. Johnson — or, wait, actually — Dear Ambassador Johnson,
It is officially time that we address the issue of the New York Jets and what exactly your intentions are for this team in the future. I, a young 19-year-old die-hard Jets fan, have been simply speechless about the way in which you have run the franchise the last couple of years.
Forget about the ticket sales, the PSLs, the merchandise, the concessions--because let's face it, you own a sports franchise in the world's most lucrative sports market so we all know you make more than enough money to that end. But the issue this disgruntled Jets fan would like to ask you is what about the product on the field? Not only am I writing this as a loyal fan but a loyal fan who happens to also be a season ticket holder. I, as well as other Jet fans, all feel that you, Mr. Ambassador, have had your sights and focus on matters much different than your most important asset. Your focus should be primarily on the Jets as it has reached a point in which your fans are turning against you. The uncertainty and the disrespect have taken its toll, and the issue of being the laughing stock of the NFL must be addressed. The misery has been equally as painful as a slap in the face.
Sundays in the fall was a time I looked forward to with great amounts of excitement--a time in which the world stopped and all that mattered were my New York Jets. All it takes is for you to realize that building and producing a winner in this city would not only change peoples lives forever but it also would change your life forever — and you would instantly become a hero. However, we cannot have our owner, the man who makes all the decisions, simply hand the team off to someone else in order to take a better position. Success comes with hard work and dedication, so how can one be successful without being dedicated and committed to winning?
Mr. Johnson, on behalf of all Jets fans, and with all due respect, if you don't plan on giving the team your dedication, then don't expect ours. It's time for you to get it right and give the fans who spend their hard-earned money on your team what they deserve, or sell the team to someone who truly cares.
Sincerely,
Your Young Disgruntled Jets Fan
