Literally, 5 Easy Ways To Do Self-Care

We get so caught up in our day to day life that we forget to take care of ourselves. I almost had a mental breakdown at work with little sleep I got. Here are 5 really good and hopefully easy things to do for self-care that I do for myself that I find helpful and simple.

1. Make time for sleep, seriously

Ever since I started taking time out for myself to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night I truly felt more energized to do things. I really thought sleep was whatever but it really is important to feeling good for the day. Set your alarm, put the phone away, and make a time to get in bed every night if you can; you'll feel better in the morning.

2. Exercise (even if it's a 5 minute walk)

I am not saying exercise is super easy and I am not saying you have to do an hour of running on the treadmill, but if you can even walk around the block for ten minutes, you'll feel more energized and better than before. Getting active will truly help you feel more active to do other things.

3. Replace a "bad" snack with a "good" snack

I still eat oreos and chips, but once in while making the choice to eat and apple with peanut butter instead of cookies makes me feel in control of my health and feel less crappy for putting food in my body that fuels it. Sometimes, make the effort for the better choice.

4. Drink Water

I thought drinking water was a whatever thing as well but getting plenty of water in a day is not only good for your health but helps you feel active for the day (for me personally). Makes you less hungry and stay hydrated, putting me in a better mood.

5. Make time for fun!

I get so caught up in school, interning, chores, work, bills, errands, etc. I forget to have fun. I make sure to take an hour out of my day to watch Family guy, or take a night off to go to the bar with friends, however making sure my important projects and homework are done. Plan ahead for a good time!

Hope these help you take care of yourself a bit more.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
