2019 has ended and now it is a brand new year, and you know what that means, resolutions. Many people are starting to make their resolutions for the new year, and while most are making resolutions revolving around traveling and other familiar things, they tend to forget about their health.
Self care is one of the biggest things in the past decade to make the top of some lists as part of resolutions. However, there are some people who are unsure of what is considered self-care, and how to even incorporate it. It can be the tiniest things that can make a major impact in your life, and after a rough 2019, 2020 seems to be the best year to reevaluate our health resolutions.
Here are some self-care ideas to add to your resolution list that can last a lifetime:
1. Go for a walk or run - It doesn't have to be several miles, it can even just be a mile a day. This will add years to your life, while also helping your joints.
2. Take pictures of the rain or snow- This helps with creativity inspiration as well as the calming sensation of watching the snow or rain is soothing to the mind.
3. Watch the sunrise- If you are not a morning person, or have never seen the sunrise you are certainly missing out on this one. The beauty of the sunrise is something to behold, and there is something calming about the crisp morning air as the sun rises.
4. Shop at the farmer's market- Although the market is currently closed down for the winter, once spring season has emerged then make your way to your local farmer's market to get fresh produce for your kitchen.
5. Walk a dog- Take your dog on a nice walk, or even volunteer at the local animal shelter to take them on walks. This not only helps you stay healthy by being outside and getting exercise, but it also helps the animals as well, they need the socialization.
6. Read a book- There is a world out there with books that are just waiting to be read, so head on over to your local bookstore or library and get a book to read. This helps your mind by improving your vocabulary, as well as taking you away from the television.
7. Take a bubble bath- Add your favorite soap and take a nice long soak.
8. Unplug from technology- Take an hour or even one day a week from technology and come back to the real world.
9. List 10 things you're grateful for- You can either start a journal where you write for fifteen to twenty minutes a day and write down ten things that you are grateful for.
10. Be vegetarian either one day a week or a full week- This helps your body get back to its natural state, as well as lessening your carbon footprint.
There are many other self-care ideas to incorporate in your resolutions, but starting with these will help you ease into the new year without overdoing it and crashing and burning after a month.
