I'm sure we all have them. Maybe you just keep ideas in your mind. Maybe you write ideas down in a book. Maybe you have a jar full of post-it notes. Maybe you have a wall covered in ideas. Maybe you don't do any of these. Whatever your method is for keeping track, we all have things we want to do before we die. These things can range from small, more practical things, like dyeing your hair a crazy color, to things that aren't as easily attainable, like backpacking across Europe. I have no way of knowing what you have on your bucket list, but I do know that you should just do it, whatever it is. Just think for a moment, what is really stopping you?
Are you scared of something on your bucket list? Perhaps it is outside of your comfort zone, or maybe you wanted to try to get over a fear or phobia. Well, guess what? If you don't do it now, you may never have the chance again. It probably isn't as scary as you think it will be. Even if it does turn out to be extremely terrifying, at least you'll be able to look back and say, "I actually did that." That is an indescribable feeling of self-satisfaction.
Does something on your bucket list cost a small fortune? Unfortunately, money can pose a slight issue. However, if you can save up and budget for this, you won't have an excuse not to do it. I realize that we all like to have money, but what good is it to have if you aren't going to spend it on anything at all? Spending a small chunk of change is worth it in the long run; you'll have the memories of that experience for the rest of your life.
Has no one else showed interest? Yeah, I know it sucks doing things alone sometimes. You might just have a little bit of fun going by yourself, though. If your friends truly don't want to go with you, they'll just complain and ruin your experience. No one wants that. Maybe you won't truly be alone; there could be a group of people with you, just not your friends. It isn't quite the same by yourself, but some alone time with your thoughts is good.
I have no way of knowing what's on your bucket list or why you haven't done certain things that you have on your bucket list. Whatever is stopping you, get over it right now. Recently, I did something that has been on my own list for a long time: riding horses on the beach. I had my doubts; it was a little scary and very expensive. After we finished riding the horses, I was so content with my life and glad that I took that step and did what I wanted. That is a memory I will treasure forever. More importantly, I won't be able to look back and have a "what if" moment. You don't want to look back fifty years from now and wonder what it would've been like had you done something from your bucket list. Carpe Diem!
