Skincare has been a huge part of my life since I started college. My interest in skincare was passed down from my mom and just a personal interest as well. Caring for your skin now is very important because it affects how your skin is in the future.
Our aging is shown a lot through our skin which means the earlier you take care of your skin, the better!
I have personally been approached by people asking about my skin and it's probably the best compliment I have ever received. Since then, I have been taking more care of my skin and there are only benefits from this! I have no actual knowledge of skincare and everything that I will be sharing will be from personal experience but I hope that these secrets for the best skin ever will help!
First off, sunscreen. Whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy, or cloudy, I put sunscreen on every day. The sun is a very sneaky guy and even when it seems like the sun is not out, it's rays are so strong that it in fact, still affects your skin!
I advise you to put sunscreen on EVERY DAY after your skincare routine. It's a crucial part of making sure that your skin is protected. I use Shiseido and it's definitely my favorite sunscreen.
Second, masks, and moisture pads! At least once or two times a week (if I remember), I treat my skin with a nice, cool mask, or use a moisture pad to clean up my face. I think this has made the most change in my skin.
Giving this extra cleanse is like taking a hot bath after a long day. Your skin desires this treatment so don't be lazy!! It's all beneficial to your skin. I recommend COSRX's moisture pads. They also have pimple pads, which I highly recommend.
Third, water!! Hydration is key! There is much research done on this and although it may not affect the skin for some people, there are still benefits in drinking lots of water. Why does water help? According to The New York Times, it helps in increasing blood flow to the skin, preventing wrinkles and dry skin. GREAT!
Lastly, don't touch your face! A huge change for me was touching my face less with my hands. This came naturally as I started to apply foundation on my face, but it helped a lot. Our hands are dirty throughout the day as we grab door handles, our hair, phone, and laptop. This does not help the skin at all! Growing this habit of not touching my face cleared out my face!
These are not complete 'secrets' as many websites include these tips, but these are just what works for me!
Clear skin has definitely boosted my confidence and if it helps boost your confidence as well, that's all that matters!
