The Secret To Communication

No, I'm being serious.

What I'm going to tell you may shock you, it may relax you, or, I guess, it may have no impact on you. Regardless, I am going to say it, (but you probably guessed that.)

You don't always have to have something to say.

Perhaps this created a visceral reaction inside of you.

"But I want to be heard."

"But I need to prove I am here."

"But I desire to be seen."

Yes. Yes to all of those things,

But, you don't always have to have something to say.

In fact, sometimes it is better not to say something.

We live in a pretty loud world. So loud that it has become difficult for some people to do anything in silence, much less sit in silence.

And I think talking is good. It's great. I love it. And music, that's good. I love it. And listening, ditto.

But, you don't always have to have something to say.

It is okay to be silent. It is okay to let someone else blab.

(That being said, everything in moderation, right?)

When somebody approaches you, consider that maybe they aren't approaching you for advice, but for a hand. For a reassuring pat on the back, for a hug, for a concerned face.

Or what about a bright, beaming smile and shared laugh?

You don't always have to have something to say.

Isn't that relieving?

You don't always have to be right! You don't always have to know what the best thing to say is!

Celebrate that! It isn't about you, and when the right words or things to say do come, it's still not about you!

Isn't that relieving?

We don't have to figure it all out in our heads. If it comes through us, then the Light uses us in incredible ways.

But if it doesn't, you don't always have to have something to say.

It's okay to admit you don't have something to say. It's okay to finish a sentence and say, "that's all," when prompted to continue.

Your inner teleprompter knows what is happening.

So if you have something to say, by all means,

SAY IT!!!!

But, if you don't, just remember, you don't always have to have something to say.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
