An Ode to my second Home
Nederland my Nederland!
Verdant green your plains do sparkle!
Foamy are your North Sea waves!
Your varied domiciles so Harken!
Nederland my Nederland!
How loving are your people!
How rich and plentiful thy culture!
How magnificent you stand!
Nederland my Nederland!
Hear the joyful noise of your denizens!
The rhythm of the happy life!
Between notes of pealing laughter!
Nederland my Nederland,
A Gourmand's true delight!
With Fries, and Stroop and Frikendel!
Unending tastes in sight!
Nederland my Nederland,
How gracious thou art be!
That you would be there greeting with open arms,
Warm to welcome me!
But alas you are not perfect,
My allegiance to my home rings true!
When I sing God Bless America,
And Happy Fourth of July to you!
You will always be my second home,
My oasis sure to be!
A haven for my soul that roams,
A palace by the Zeider Zee!
Although I must say farewell,
It is only for a while,
My memory will always hold you,
Though stretched by thousand miles.
One Day I will return,
Triumphant at thy gates,
Singing Nederland my Nederand!
But how long must I wait?
