As you may have heard, it rains in Seattle quite consistently from the beginning of fall to the end of spring. While other cities seem to be enjoying the warm weather and sunshine toward the beginning of April, Seattleites are still waiting anxiously indoors for the first opportunity to put on their shorts and t-shirts again.
The green grass and spring flowers make it seem like the weather should have cleared up weeks ago, but we’re still met with gray skies and that seemingly incessant rainy mist characteristic of our area. Here are five things Seattleites think when it simply refuses to stop raining.
1. I thought it was going to be nice today
Despite the generally consistent weather, people in Seattle can be naively optimistic about when the rain is going to end. The sun will come out for a second and we’ll leave our jackets at home, then ten minutes later it will start to pour and we’re left without a hood.
2. I don’t need to wear my rain boots anymore, right?
If we checked the weather report more often, this would stop being a problem.
3. Maybe I’ll just move to Arizona
In Arizona, people actually get to enjoy the sunny spring weather. They can swim in their pools, walk outside without getting their feet wet, and even get a tan. What would that kind of life be like?
4. It’s fine because the summer will be nice
Yes, the weather is horrid now, but come June everyone else will be envious of our clear days that rarely get to be above 80 degrees. We can actually go outside during the summer months without getting a heatstroke, which is a major plus.
5. Dress for the weather you want, not the weather you have
The most ambitious Seattleites don’t let the weather get in the way of their spring fashion. Maybe your toes will freeze in those new sandals, but you can still wear them proudly.
