Season Six Of The Walking Dead Part II: Last Day On Earth

Who did Negan Kill? Who Cares? Dave Chappelle should've been cast.

Preface

Just quickly, let's go deeper into something that bugs me that I briefly mentioned in Part I; Morgan beats up Carol, because he thinks Alpha Wolf should live even though he’s been killing people. So Morgan would rather beat a woman as to save a prick’s life because “all life is precious?” I get the message. But he’s betraying loyalty to Rick (by extension, since Rick trusts Carol) for someone who tried to kill him, and is hitting a woman for that purpose? Morgan’s a little ass backwards, ain’t he?

I mean what the fuck? And when the show tries to prove Morgan was right, and the Alpha Wolf protects Denise, he dies! What the fuck! They finally introduce an ideology different from Rick’s and don’t kill that character off. And then when they give some validity to his claim, they kill off the one example he has to prove his viewpoint. And in Season Eight (that’s right, I’ve actually almost caught up after all this time) he’s killing left and right, no care anymore. What the fuck!

Last Day On Earth

Quickly: baby Shane (A.K.A. Ron) gets killed after shooting Carl’s eye out... Baby Shane's brother and mother Alexandra Breckenridge die (her death was particularity dumb, not just because I think she's hot, but I'll explain why in my article for Season Eight)… next episode skips ahead a few weeks (weird place to skip ahead given we just got back from the hiatus) and Rick and Michonne pork… we meet the hilltop …Carol and Maggie get kidnapped because this show still thinks their individual character episodes aren’t boring and don’t slow the plot from progressing… then that Negan base gets destroyed on a rescue mission by the people I guess we’re rooting for at this point…we see Dwight again, only this time he fell asleep with the iron on… and then after a whole season, we meet Negan… only we don’t.

He only shows up in the last 10 minutes of an episode where we watch the Rick and Co. go down one road to get stopped by Trevor from GTA V, to go down another road and get stopped by Trevor from GTA V, to do it again a third time, to then walk in the Hundred Arce Woods only to finally meet The Comedian.

That’s what I was hoping. I’m probably one of the few people who don’t like Negan in the comics. And I don’t like Jeffery Dean Morgan. He’s pretty good in somethings. He’s awesome as The Comedian in Watchmen, but all and all, eh.

I don’t think he’s a great actor. He’s married to Peyton Sawyer from One Tree Hill which I’m a bit jealous of and that reveals two things. 1) this show is weirdly tied to One Tree Hill; first Junk, then Julian and even Mouth has a brief bit on the show in Season Eight. All that's missing is Chad Michael Murray, and 2) I know way too much about One Tree Hill.

Anyways, he kills it as The Comedian. He’s also ripped to shit in that movie. So after hearing actors like Kevin Durand, Jon Hamm and Henry Rollins (the last of which the comic book character’s face and look is based on) didn’t get the role, all of whom would’ve done it much better, I thought at least he was The Comedian.

Comic book wise, the characters are similar. But instead, we get The Comedian after he accidentally went in the washer in warm water. And he’s essentially doing a Jack Sparrow impression. Why is he so flamboyant? That’s not how the character is. Fine, he’s interpreting it differently and you know what, some villains are much better when they’re flamboyant. Imagine T-Bag from Prison break if he wasn’t.

It wouldn’t have the same effect. In Skyfall, the flamboyance Javier Bardem brings to Silva makes him that much scarier. The same effect isn’t happening with Negan, he just looks like he’s going to fall over every two seconds. And what’s with the ascot Freddy from Scooby Doo??

Maybe its a scarf, whatever.

One thing I want to know is why is Rick so scared here? He’s been in worse situations or at least situations that equally the seriousness of this moment. Remember the whole red handled machete thing? When his balls weighed three pounds each? Did he trip, land on a needle and deflate them like balloons? He’s so scared now and this moment isn’t worse for wear. It’s like every other situation so far.

I almost started to detail the way Negan kills Abraham and Glenn and realized that doesn’t happen this season. We get this weird dizzy camera movement while he says eenie meenie and says several words on each person (having no idea how that works apparently) and then we get a POV from whoever he landed on. That effect is always cheesy, even worse with the blood dripping.

AND WE WAITED A WHOLE SEASON FOR A LOUSY 10 MINUTES AND WE DON’T SEE WHO GETS GRAND SLAMMED?! This is arguably the biggest moment in the comic. I say deviate, but when you get to the important moments, do them justice. What is this aside from an unnecessary cliffhanger, begging the obnoxious question “Who Did Negan Kill?” Answer: The show’s viewership. Insert comedic drum fill.

Do yourself a favor, while you’re waiting for my detailed looked at the first episode of Season Seven, go watch Robot Chicken’s Negan, he’s funnier. Better yet, check out Dave Chappelle as Negan, also way funnier. Next week, I’m going to write three articles. One short one for the premiere episode, and then one for Season Seven (as short and concise as possible) and one for Season Eight A.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
