Sayonara Summer Boredom

During the enduring, fun months of summer, there comes a point where you feel as if you’ve hit a brick wall. Sure, you’ve been keeping yourself busy, but all of a sudden, you can’t think of anything new to do. You’ve reconnected with all your old friends, gone out a few times, and even rearranged your old childhood room. There absolutely nothing you haven’t done and therefore the reality of boredom sets in.

What could save you from this devastating spout of boredom?

Have no fear! This list of different things to do during the summer will save from ever being bored again.

1. Arts & Crafts

For those who have a Pinterest, this is the perfect place to find fun homemade crafts to create. And for those of you moving into college for the first time, you can even create cute decor for your dorm!

2. Go To A Concert

Summer is the perfect time to listen to music from one of your favorite artists, but if you’re not up for spending too much money, sometimes certain cities or towns offer free concerts! Free live entertainment? Um, yes please!

3. Read A Book

For my fellow bibliophiles, you finally have free time on your hands, so check out all the new books out there! Barnes & Noble is great, but so is the library or even a used book store.

4. Cook And Bake!

If you’re ever on Facebook, chances are you’ve seen those Tasty videos where they make food in a matter of a few minutes. Instead of simply watching those videos, why not try following one of the recipes? Yum!

5. Work Out

Running, Yoga, Tennis, Soccer, Kickboxing...whatever you enjoy doing to keep your body fit, now’s the perfect time to enjoy it.

6. Change Up Your Hairstyle

Whether you cut it or dye it, change up your hairdo because, well, why not?

7. Catch Up On Your Favorite Show

This summer I binge-watched Game of Thrones up to the current season that is airing now, and I have no shame. Catch up on whatever show you’ve had to put off during the school year.

8. Go To The Beach!

If you live near the coast, take advantage of that beautiful ocean! And don’t forget the sunscreen!

9. ...Or The Pool

Not near the beach? No problem! Get one of your favorite swan floaties and jump in!

10. Do Something Fun With Your Pet

Have a dog? Bring him/her to the dog park! Your pet will have fun, while your boredom will dissipate.

11. Have A Spa Day

Sometimes relaxation is all your need, and your skin will thank you for it.

12. Try New Makeup Looks!

Youtube is a great thing when it comes to learning how to do things, and Youtube is the perfect place to practice your contour or highlighting skills.

13. Learn How To Do Different Braids

Ever wondered how to create a dutch braid? Look no further than Youtube for all your braiding needs.

14. Go Shopping

Need an update on your wardrobe? Time to hit the malls!

15. Listen To New Music

Go out of your comfort zone and listen to a new genre of music this summer.

Here’s to an entertaining summer!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
