Saying Goodbye To Your First Year Of College

As we are approaching the final months of our first year of college, I can't help but look back on everything that has happened this year. When I look back I start to realize how hard it is going to be to say goodbye to my very first year of college. We all started out as scared little freshman ready to conquer this new phase of our lives, and now we are ending our freshman year as stronger and more well-rounded individuals.

While we wait for our first year of college to be over, we look back on the very first moment that we walked into our new home for the first time, the first time we knew we met our best friend and the first all-nighter we ever had. Freshman year was a bunch of firsts for a lot of people, and there is no doubt that there will be many more firsts throughout our college experience. But the ones that we made freshman year will stay with us forever.

We will soon be walking out of the doors of our dorms for the last time and thinking about the very first time we walked into our new home for the year. When we say goodbye to the friends that we made, we will look back on amazing memories we had together. Whether it was going to games or just hanging out, you will always have those memories. Even though you will see each other over the summer, the friends that you made won't be living right down the hall from you anymore. They may be living hours or states away -- the world that we finally adjusted to is coming to an end. We are really leaving our best friends to return to our other best friends.

Saying goodbye is hard enough, but knowing that, in just a few short months, you will be back with your best friends is motivational enough. But goodbyes are hard, even if you're still going to see each other almost all the time, and everyone knows that. You will even be sad saying goodbye to the crappy dining hall food that you have grown to love (maybe not really).

Even though summer has so many new adventures that await you, you will still miss the great adventures that you had this year. As finals start to end and you start to pack up your dorm, you will find memories of the previous year that you thought you had forgotten. Leaving freshman year of college is like breaking up with freshman year of college -- you know it will be hard to let go, but you need to move on.

So as we say goodbye to our freshman year, we look back on all the good and bad times we had. We will remember the crazy stories that we vowed not to tell anyone. We will remember how great it was to be a freshman at college.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
