The trips have come and gone, your Netflix account has been highly overused, and summer is coming to a close. The days are about to get shorter and there's about to be so much more to do in them.
The hard part is getting from the laid back style of summer to the high-functioning lifestyle that the school year requires.
Set your alarm early.
If you've been sleeping in or sleeping too much in general over the summer, it's time to snap out of it. Start getting up earlier to increase productivity and get prepared for those early morning classes you may or may not be enrolled in.
Do something besides the pool or Netflix.
Pick up a book. Make something from scratch. Go above and beyond to try something new that might challenge your mind a little bit more than downing beers poolside or binge-watching the next season of whatever you're enjoying on Netflix.
Start the job hunt.
If you haven't been working at a place in Norman over the summer but are going to need petty cash for the school year, these precious weeks before the first day of school are your opportunity to find the perfect work place. If you want a decent job with reasonable hours, the sooner the better is the best motto in your case, so get going.
Pick a day of rest.
The school year is coming for us once again, and the veterans among us know that it only gets harder with each year thanks to higher level classes and internships added into the schedule. Pick a day a week that you let yourself be lazy, and make sure every other day you are just the opposite of that. Having an assigned day off makes the rest of the week way more productive.
The transition from summer to fall is never an easy one, so make it go as smoothly as possible while you still have the chance.
