To all my fellow freshmen,

What a whirlwind year this has been! Just think… at the beginning of this year, you were still in high school nervous out of your mind constantly thinking about what was to come. We welcomed this new year without really knowing what would come of it. So many unknowns remained to occupy your mind.

Where am I going to college? Am I ready to graduate high school? Who will I keep in contact with? What will I do over the summer? Am I going to like college?

These and probably a million more were occupied your worried head. At the beginning of this year, the months ahead seemed to be a daunting conquest of challenges, uncertainties and inexplicable excitement all at the same time. Something completely unknown, unexpected and unclear. Also, if you are anything like me and you have to have every second of your life planned, this is not okay.

However, months after embarking on this whirlwind of an adventure of the first semester of college, it is important to look back to realize how far we have come in just the matter of weeks. Now here you are several weeks later ready to face the world with (hopefully) more secure in yourself and your future.

We went to our last proms, graduated, spent our last summer in our hometowns, moved into our new colleges. From there, life has jettisoned into many different adventures, experiences, and classes.

Over this semester, we entered our beloved college football stadiums for the first time as students and screamed at the top of our lungs to victory. Furthermore, we entered college lectures for the first time and learned new things from very interesting or very boring professors. Thanks to them, we have written dozens of pages, but also learned about unknown histories, philosophies, and theories.

So here is to the last week of late nights, late night adventures, laughing endlessly, and everything else that has come this semester.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
