specially if you're going out of state, you won't know anybody at your new school...unless you play a sport. Meeting your future teammates before you even get to campus can be a real lifesaver.
Choosing a roommate can be less stressful
If I hadn't chosen to play a sport in college, I would've been living with a complete stranger, but because I chose to play a sport, I knew my roommate months before we even got there.
Laying a sport might make college more affordable
DI and DII schools give athletic money, from just a little up to a full ride. DIII doesn't offer athletic money but sometimes coaches can work their magic and get you a little extra academic money.
Sports can help with time managment
A lot of young adults struggle with time management, but playing a sport and having a busy schedule has you saying "I'll do this now" instead of "I'll have time later"
It prepares you for the real world
More and more places of employment these days like to create team environments, and especially being a captain of a collegiate team can help you rise above other candidates.
