We all know the feeling: being stuck in a rut. There are few things that feel worse. Sometimes you really just feel like nothing is going your way or that your routine has become monotonous. I've recently had all of these feelings-- and while I am no expert, I've found some surefire ways to pull myself out of my "ruts."

Read a book.

Pick something that makes you happy. It can be something fictional or a fairytale or sci-fi. Just read. Reading really helps to get your mind off of things, expands your horizons, and helps you think about things differently. A book that really changed my life was You Are A Badass, which is basically a book on how to get out of your rut.... I highly recommend it.

Do something new.

This may seem obvious, but sometimes being in a rut is just because our routines have become, well... too routine. Try something new. Maybe it's a workout class or a new restaurant, but just challenge yourself to step a little bit out of your comfort zone. New experiences are exciting, and your life will feel less monotonous.

Do things for yourself.

Take some "me time." I used to think that taking time for yourself was kind of silly, but it's now essential to my everyday life. Do things that make you happy. Don't worry about whatever that may be, just take time to pursue things that you enjoy. Sometimes we get stuck in ruts because we only worry about certain things: school, work, our to-do lists, etc. Make sure you make time for what makes you happy.

Lastly, reconnect.

Think back to a time where you weren't "stuck in a rut." What was going well? What can you take from that experience and implement in your life today? Remember the times where you felt the happiest and most confident version of yourself and channel them. Reconnect with old friends, reconnect with family, just-- reconnect with who you really are and you're sure to pull yourself out of your rut.

It can be difficult when you feel like things are just gong "eh." Take time to pursue these tips and realize that it's okay to sometimes feel like you are stuck in a rut.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
