Runaway Heart; A Look Into My Stories- FOR WEEK OF DECEMBER 19TH
Writing In Notebooks

I have told you all in a number of my articles that I write stories on a site called Wattpad. I love telling stories. Romance, adventure, fantasy, all that jazz. I am an inspiring writer. I have 10 stories on Wattpad that are mostly fanfictions where I put my own twists into the plots of books or TV series that I fell in love with. I do have one original story on there. It is called Runaway Heart.

Runaway Heart is about Mallory Roberts, or better known as Rory, who was 17 years old, when her life really began. Of course she had been on this earth for 17 years, but that year, she got her very first fresh breath of life and found a whole new meaning.

It was that year that she fell in love. Meeting Jonah was the best thing to happen to Rory.

This is the story of Rory and Jonah. A story of all their ups and their downs and everything that made them who they were and all that tore them apart. A story of all that could have been and of what should have happened.

Runaway Heart is based off of a short story that I wrote years ago for school. Below is the first chapter of Runaway Heart. I wanted to share with my readers my story, well one of them because I wanted to show another side of my writing. The story, the fantasy side. And after you read, are you finding yourself wanting more? Enjoy!

Summer is almost over. Junior year is about to start for Mallory Roberts. So today was like all the other days to her. Mallory has had a routine set since the first day of her summer vacation. And the routine had kept her busy for the most part. But it didn't help that all her friends were out of town for the last three weeks. You could say Mallory was just plain bored now. Until today that is.

"Mallory! I'm leaving for work, sweetheart." Her Mother, Chrissy shouts up the stairs. It was just her and her Mother that lived in the huge four bedroom house. And sometimes it was just too much for her Mother so the older woman would escape to work to hide from the weary silence. They have made it work though. They are happy.

Rory stares up at her ceiling. She had woken up 15 minutes ago and just didn't want to get up yet. "Rory!" Her Mother shouts once more, then Rory hears the front door opening and then seconds later it closes. The girl checks her iPhone, there weren't any new messages. She groans inwardly.

Rory sits up, pushing the covers off of her before getting off her bed. Her big brown eyes scan the room for something to wear. She had to remember to do her laundry later today or she wouldn't have nothing to wear tomorrow. Rory grabs some jeans off of her dresser; she pulls out a bra and some panties from her drawer. Then gets a shirt from her open closet.

Rory stumbles into the bathroom. Setting her clothes onto her bathroom counter, she starts the shower. Rory strips herself out her pajamas pants and white tank top. Stepping into the hot shower. She washes her hair and body quickly. Once she is done, Rory steps out of the shower and wraps her body with a fluffy, white towel. She grabs her brush off the counter and brushes it through her wet hair.

Rory drys her hair and straightens it for a change from its usual curly appearance. She gets dressed before she starts brushing her teeth. Rory walks out of the bathroom. The girl sits at the end of her bed while she pulls on her boots. She tucks her cellphone into her back pocket with her wallet before leaving her room.

Closing the door behind her, Rory makes her way downstairs. Rory locks her house up as she exits it. Tucking her keys into her front jeans pocket, she walks down her driveway.

Since the summer started, Rory had been wandering around town and found a little café that just opened up then started going everyday. She would order something different everyday so she could say she tried everything. Today, it was a bagel kind of day. Rory hums as she walks down the sidewalk. The sun was up high in the sky and she could hear birds singing or whatever it is that they do. It almost made Rory feel depressed that summer is about to be over. It was her favorite season.

Rory barely noticed that she had arrived in town. Hendersonville was rather large. The girl was happy that they lived only 20 minutes away from town. She smiles to herself as she glances at all the little shops that she loved shopping in. Rory finally comes to Mama's Café . The door rings as she enters the small, family-owned cafe.

"Goodmorning Mallory!" Mama Sloane, the cafe owner says as she waves to Rory. The woman was older than Rory's Mother. Her black hair had silver strands throughout and there were little wrinkles on the edge of her green eyes.

"Goodmorning Mama Sloane." Rory smiles. Walking over to a table and sitting down.

"What can I get for you?" Mama Sloane asks. Her pen and pad of paper ready.

"I would like a plain bagel with cream cheese and a medium hot chocolate. To go please. I'm going to the park today." Rory smiles. Watching Mama Sloane scribble it down.

"Alright dear. It's such a beautiful day that I don't blame you." Mama Sloane nods and walks away to put in Rory's order.

It doesn't take long before Mama Sloane walks back over with a medium to-go cup and the cream cheese on the bagel in a brown bag. Rory takes her order and gives Mama Sloane a ten dollar bill to cover said order.

Rory leaves Mama's Cafe. Making her way down the street, the park is in on the other side of town. A huge field that football or baseball can be played in it is attached to a huge playground. It even has some wooded area surrounded the entire park, along with a small pond.

Rory likes the walk to and from the park. When she finally gets across town, the sun is beaming down on her and makes her break out in a sweat. Rory wipes her forehead with a napkin. And threw the napkin in a trash can that she passes by. Finding her favorite spot in the park. A bench that is under a few trees that shields it from the sun. And she has a perfect view of the field.

Rory could see a group of guys playing a game of football. She takes a sip of her hot chocolate. A moan escapes her lips as it finally cooled down so she could actually drink it without biting her tongue like she usually does. Setting down her cup beside her, she digs into her bag to get her bagel. Rory sets it beside her so she could place the brown bag at her feet. Then she sets her cup on top of the bag so it wouldn't be blown away. She hated littering.

Rory picks up one half of her bagel and takes a bite. It is good for just a plain bagel with cream cheese. Mama Sloane knew how to cook. She sets the bagel back down to lean over to grab her hot chocolate again. Rory gasps as she feels someone plop down beside her. She straightens up and looks at the person.

He was gorgeous. His dark hair clung to his sweaty forehead and his brown eyes looks at her as she stares at him. Rory shakes her head, clearing it up from shock. Her brown eyes look to the guy to the bench. Realizing that he just sat on her bagel. A shriek leaves her lips, making the guy jump.

"What's the problem?" He asks. His head tilts in confusion. He didn't understand why the girl acted like this bench had her name on it.

"You..." Rory smiles slightly to contain the laughter that is building. "You just sat on my bagel." She mutters, pointing to the bench.

His eyebrows knit together. "I did, what?" He stands suddenly. Revealing her two bagel halves attached to both sides of his butt in his shorts. Rory busts out laughing as she watches him frown at the sight of his shorts or rather his butt. A cute butt at that, Rory notes to herself. It is a funny sight.

Rory bites her lip. "Would you like me to get that off?" She points to the bagel. A blush clearly evident on her cheeks.

The guy shakes his head and starts to peel one half off his butt. "Napkin please?" He mutters. Reaching out toward Rory.

"Oh yeah." She grabs the brown bag and dogs out a few napkins. Handing them to the guy. "I'm Mallory by the way. Owner of that said bagel that your butt is on." Rory giggles. Biting her lip to keep the laughter to a minimum.

He takes the napkins and starts wiping off the cream cheese. Discarding the first half of the bagel into the bag that Rory is holding open. "Jonah, owner of the butt that your bagel is on." Jonah glares at her for a second before returning his gaze to his butt, well what he could see of it.

"Well Jonah, I didn't know anyone would sit beside me because this park is huge and is full of plenty of benches." Rory rolls her eyes.

"There is only a few on the field. This being one of them. My buddies and I playing a game. So I sat down to watch a few plays before rejoining them." Jonah peels off the other half, dropping it into the bag with the first half.

Rory smiles as she watches him grunt and try to get every spot of cream cheese off. "I guess you chose the wrong seat because your shorts are messed up and my breakfast is ruined." She pouts. It broke her heart to know that she didn't get to finish her bagel. Her eyes go to Jonah's butt, he had almost gotten all of the cream cheese off. Except for one spot.

Rory grabs one of the napkins and wipes the last spot of the cream cheese off. "You missed a spot." Her cheeks reddens as she sees Jonah staring at her, wide eyed. "Sorry." She mutters as she drops the napkin into the bag. Then rolls the bag up so she could throw it away.

"It's fine, I got my shorts cleaned up. I'm sorry for sitting on your bagel." Jonah lets out a sigh. His brown eyes look at her. She was beautiful. And her smile made him weak in the knees. He hadn't ever came to the park that often.

Rory pulls out her phone and glances at the time. She had been gone for two and a half hours already. "I should go." Rory stands up. Holding out her hand to him. "It was nice meeting you, Jonah. " She smiles again at him.

It is so contagious that her smile made him smile. He grasps her hand in his. "It was a pleasure meeting you and your bagel, Mallory." He looks down at her, he was a foot taller than her.

"Rory." She corrects him. "My friends call me Rory." She finally pulls her hand away from his stubbornly. Something about her hand fitting into his just so perfectly. It made her blush even more as she realized what she was thinking.

"Well Rory, I owe you a bagel." Jonah rubs the back of his neck. "So maybe there is a chance I will see you again."

"Maybe. You never know." Rory bites her lip. BackIng away from the scene slowly. She turns around and keeps walking until she is behind some trees. When she was out of his sight, Rory glances back at him. Watching as he runs back towards his friends. The girl smiles as she sees him looking toward the trees for her. Rory leans against the tree. Trying to calm herself from the utter embarrassment that she had with a stranger with a cute butt. All because it was a bagel kind of day.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
