Rules For Writing Fiction

We all love works of fiction, don't we? We love the thrill that comes with it; we love the emotion that is evoked when we read a good fiction. But have you ever thought about writing one? Maybe, yes. But then again, most of you are afraid that it will take a tremendous amount of hard work to do it. Even though it's true that it takes a lot of time to come up with a good plot, it may not be as hard as you think. You can follow some simple rules to make things a bit easier. So in this article, we will talk some of the simple rules you can follow for writing fiction. If you are a beginner, then you definitely should read this.

Rules for Writing Fiction

So let's get straight to the point and talk about them. Keep in mind that this is just a suggestion from us.

Creating multi-dimensional characters

Your characters are definitely an important part of the story. You need to create at least one character that can create an impression on readers mind. Whether the character is a typical goody two shoe guy or a classic villain, the character needs to be three-dimensional. Say, for example, you are writing about a hard-working guy who is a good father, a good husband and does everything for his family. Yet he is having an affair with another woman. Why? Now that can be a start. Build his character and the plot from there. But don't make it cliche.

Write what you know about

When you are just a year old baby, you don't run for a marathon. You got to walk first. So what we are trying to say is that you should write about what you know. Don't choose a plot that is unknown to you. Be in your comfort zone. Suppose you live in London and you know the culture, the streets, the weather and everything. So your fiction(whether it's a science fiction or a classic literary work) should be based on London. Of course, later in your career, you'll have to be more dynamic. But for starters, this should be enough.

Develop your characters and give them motivations

The main characters in your story need to have some sort of motive. Without that, the fiction itself will be dull and boring. The motivation of the characters means the motivation of the readers. So make sure to keep that in mind.

Having a twist at the end just might do the trick

The ending of your fiction must evoke some sort of emotion(whether it's happiness, sadness or amazement) on readers mind. It may not be a bad idea to have a twist at the end of your fiction. The twist can come from the main character or a sub-character. Whatever it is, It should be something that makes the readers go "wow" as they don't see it coming.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
