Going Back To Rutgers: As Told By The Office

With the start of the semester less than two weeks away, there is a lot of emotions as we head into another year of memories at Rutgers University! There will be both good and bad times here. Either way, there is no other show that could perfectly describe going back to school like The Office does.

Good luck this semester!

1. Leaving the last day of your summer job.

2. Saying goodbye to the only friend you had this summer.

3. But you're ready to have zero rules again.

4. Feeling a little depressed after spending the entire summer working hard and playing less.

5. But remembering all that money you saved is for the different food options on Easton Ave.

6. Reconnecting with all of your college friends you haven't seen all summer.

7. Your room is consumed by fans or an AC unit, because you know how hot those RU dorms and apartments get.

8. BUT SYLLABUS WEEK!

9. And that the first football game of the season is soon!

10. But you're well aware of the consequences you might face when spending your entire summer savings in that first week on fat sandwiches, pizza, and Hansel.

11. Thinking about how crowded everything and everywhere will be the first week:

The book store...

Financial Aid...

12. Stepping into Brower for the first time this semester.

13. "Please stand behind the yellow line while the bus is in motion."

14. Seeing a freshman put his/her backpack on a bus seat.

15. When you have class in 10 minutes, but the bus driver gets out on their 45th break of the hour

16. Having to get back into that Yik Yak groove.

17. Trying to remember again the different take out daily specials on each campus.

18. Seeing your old friend again... Alexander Library.

19. Hating your last semester self because you thought scheduling an 8:40 AM class was a good idea at the time.

20. You then remember how much of a nightmare using Webreg is.

21. Rutger's new slogan should be "No Parking Any Time." So when you actually manage to drive to class without getting one...

22. Whether if it's one or a million, you will experience an RU screw somewhere or somehow during the year.

23. But that's okay, because either way you are still excited to get back to one of the best college's in the world!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
