If you have any sort of internet access, you more than likely are aware of the incident regarding Roseanne Barr's racist tweet and the cancellation of the show regarding said incident.
Despite the major media coverage this incident has been receiving, I have noticed that there are so many stories and events out in the country and even worldwide that are receiving far less attention than this, far more serious than someone saying something stupid and offensive.
With that being said, here are just a few stories worth more media coverage than Roseanne Barr and her poor Twitter decision.
1. Dickson Co Deputy shot and killed
According to numerous sources, the deputy stopped responding to calls and was found deceased in his car. The officer was near what he had previously referred to as being a suspicious vehicle and the current known suspect has been added to the TBI Most Wanted List. This incident took place in Dickson County Tennessee.
2. 75 homes (at least) were destroyed by a volcanic eruption in Hawaii
The Kilauea volcano erupted on May 3rd and has yet to cease as of May 30th. The Leilani Estates, an area at the corner of the island, was hit hardest, in which at least homes have been destroyed and leaving people displaced.
3. Nearly 5,000 lives claimed by hurricanes in Puerto Rico
As of now the death toll is around 4,600, but researchers claim it could be up to 70 times the official estimate.
4. A teen thinks on her feet, climbing a fence and beating the clock to save a drowning toddler
Indiana teen Haylei McGillis saw a group of young children in the pool of an apartment complex. While they were playing, McGillis noticed one of the young girls start flailing around and panicking. Thinking quickly, the teen raced to the three year old girl and rescued her from the water, saving her life. Both the teen and the young girl are okay.
5. A mother stabbed her 6 year old son, then reportedly told police he "deserved it"
The 6 year old boy survived and ran to a neighbor's home, in which police and paramedics were contacted. Mother, 34 year old Nemoria Villagomez, was found in her bedroom with 14 month old son, who had appeared to have been strangled and forced to ingest methamphetamines. The toddler was taken to the hospital then released into state custody after further evaluation. As for the 6 year old boy, he is doing well and family say he should be released from the hospital soon after fighting for his life. Villagomez is being held at a bond of over $1 million and reportedly had similar accusations and charges in 2016.L
