I was among the various people who (not so) patiently awaited Nov. 25 for the "Gilmore Girls" reunion episodes, and when they finally came out, you can bet I watched them all in one day. However, what I found in those episodes was less than what I was expecting.
First off, who the hell decided that Rory was a crappy journalist? That is not okay! She is a terrific human, and she has a degree from Yale. I find it hard to believe that credentials like that would keep her from getting jobs. Also, she fell asleep during an interview with a guy for that piece about waiting in lines? Dull subject, but you've gotta at least fake interest. So clearly, she's not as good as we were led to believe she would be. Not. Okay. With. Me.
Secondly, she's basically homeless. Not even basically — she's homeless. She's moving from her mom's house to Lane's house, to Logan's apartment in London (don't even get me started). She's got her belongings spread between these places and her grandparents'. She's a mess. That's no way to live.
And another thing! This Logan-Rory set up is so not ideal. I have been a Logan supporter ever since he came onto the scene, and even I am deeply offended by this! Fan theories have somewhat calmed my immense rage at their love affair, but I cannot fathom how Rory Gilmore could turn into such a cheater. She messed up in the past, but this is intentional cruelty to Paul and Odette. HE IS ENGAGED. One more time for the people in the back. Logan Huntzberger is ENGAGED.
It is so not like Rory to forget about a guy she's dating. That irritated me too. Her and Paul? Where did he even come from? Clearly, she shouldn't have started dating him, since he was so forgettable. When they broke up, I was happy. But then she goes and hooks up with some guy dressed as a wookie. This is not the Rory Gilmore I know and love. She values these intimate, romantic moments, she wouldn't just hook up with some random on the street!!
Finally, those last words. Kill me inside. I can't handle that. I get the sweet irony of the plot coming full circle, and how it's showcasing how like Lorelai Rory really is, but come on. She's never even mentioned wanting a family. She's no where near ready for this, and we don't know who the father is. (Secretly hoping it's Logan's so I get another montage of Rory and the boys having a crazy night on the town.)
So yeah. Rory Gilmore. Get your life together. Lorelai raised you better than this, and she was just a child when she started raising you.
