If you’re reading this, you’ve either been my roommate, or are curious to see what I have to say to them.

Most people have mixed reactions and feelings when it comes to talking about roommates. Some people have great experiences living with other people, some have average experiences, and some have absolutely horrible experiences.

To my roommates, past and present, I would like to say thank you.

Thank you for being my live in therapists and always listening to me when I’m having a freak out about sports, school, or basically anything in my life. I wouldn’t have anyone to vent to if it wasn’t for you guys. You keep me semi-sane.

Thank you for putting up with my laziness sometimes. You know those days where you forget to take out the trash, clean up the living room, or do your dishes? Whenever I’m in a rush, or just forget to do something, you guys are always there to pick me up.

Thank you for putting me in my place when those things happen to often. No one likes to live with messy people, and I am far from it. But, sometimes I slack and will leave things out, and I know they will let me know about it. You keep me accountable.

Thank you for allowing me to express my obsession with holidays. I know there are some scrooges out there, but you are all wonderful people who let me decorate all around the house and get excited about the holidays. (Merry Christmas everyone)

And, thank you for not being horrible people. In fact, you're all wonderful. I don't know what I would do without each of you. You've all made my living with roommates experience awesome, and I wouldn't trade you guys for anyone!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
